In the meantime - cnelson - here is a picture of my dash:
IPB Image
Look through the steering wheel on the lower left hand side. The first thing you see is the Red Light for the stock alarm. To the right you will barely be able to make out one of the two switches I put there for custom lighting on my car. It lights up red when the switch is engaged and blacks out like you see it when the switch is in the off position. These switches cost me no more than $5 at Autozone and look really nice and stock in the interior. Just an example of where you can place the switch. Again use your imagination. Almost anywhere on the dash is possible.

Jeez - pittfirefighter - you were faster than I thought.
I understand what you are doing here. Still taking it from the fuse box where the fuse goes but essentially creating two outputs from the stock input. I would still prefer not to have to take from this spot so as to not confuse anyone who comes after me in the event that a fuse pops. You know how mechanics can be. If they saw this they would say there's your problem and start ripping out your work. Remember I am thinking for o0black0o's car on Sun.
On his I think I wll use the orange wire out of the back of the radio if so equipped.
Back to helping cnelson...I will just observe and learn now.

Oh ok, i don't know if you got what i was getting at, but the fuse itself (the spot i used number 30) is on a relay and shuts off when you open the door, therefore anything else attached to it will also shut off when opening the door

Don't be. We were all new to this once.
And even though I've been doing this for years, as I said I'm learning from this. Let's see where pittfirefighter is taking you.

nope not tough at all, the switch will probably be the toughest part, just try to find one with a circular middle, then you can just drill a hole and thats it, fuse is as easy as pulling one out and pushing the other in

make sure you get the part i talked about before - Add-A-Fuse mini

This is overly simplified but it was intended to be a diagram of what Pittfirefighter is telling you to do:

Yes - be sure to get two different colors of wire - black (-) and red (+). This will make coaching you through the steps easier and also the finished product will be universaly recognizable to anyone later on.
Also don't forget to get the ready to go LEDs not the ones that need resistors. Youre not ready for resistors yet. Autozone has a 3pack that has a blue package. They are in the ricer section with the neons and such.

Don't worry we got your back. You might want to start it today though cause I don't know about pitt but I'm gonna be out of touch until Monday probably. I may check in Sun if o0black0o has internet on his person while we re-wire his gauges.
take a pic of the LEDs you buy and post it before 5pm CST and I will let you know if you got the right ones. Remember the ones in the blue 3pack. I've had great luck with them and they are pretty much stupid simple to wire up.

You would have till 6:00pm your time. If you want you could text me at (832)882-0534 whenever. I have cricket so it wont cost me anything no matter how far away or what time. Cricket is the $hit!

going to Autozone today too so I can get you the brand name but I won't know how to get it to you. No internet at home in my music studio. The napster problems way back had gotten me paranoid LOL.
