In stock housings, yes they will blind incoming drivers

The only "legal" and good way to setup HIDs on celicas is to get the JDM projectors and replaced the halogen projector modules with HIDS modules, like the TSX’s.

I second his thoughts^^ I have seen his and Steff's in person and they are unbeleivable. They make the car appear so much cleaner and newer compared to the stock flashlights... We compared my car next to his and you couldn't even tell my lights were on biggrin.gif

I think the 6000k look a little bluer in pictures. they look bluish when looking at the housing but when you're in the car they're perfectly white, no yellow at all.

i tried searchin but i dunno

the HIDs actually run cooler than stock. I believe they're only a 35w output whereas regular halogen bulbs are 55w

got them from Culpable04. he was doing HID Group Buys for a while but you can just PM him and ask

steff actually most of the time they run hotter than stock. High Intensity Discharge ; the power used does not reflect the heat generated. stock halogens are in the ~ 3500 Kelvins and the ones you have are 6000 Kelvins, but the heat generated is not enough to melt out housings.

Hey culpable

I'm not exactly sure you are correct about the HID's. They may infact be physically hotter than stock bulbs but your argument doesn't hold. The 6000K reference is "color temperature" and not physical temperature.

"Technically, color temperature refers to the temperature to which one would have to heat a theoretical "black body" source to produce light of the same visual color."

Which is this case means nothing. See this article.

this is taken from the articule you just post

Technically, color temperature refers to the temperature to which one would have to heat a theoretical "black body" source to produce light of the same visual color.

the temperature is the heat need to produce the color, for example, in a fire you can see diferent color depending on the temp of it, the regular yellow is the coldest point of heat and as you increase the oxigen charge to a fire the flames will turn in the following order yellow to green to blue and some gases can burn colorless ( methanol )

an HID kit has novel gases inside the bulb that react with the electricity ( acting as heat source ) to produce the color of choice.

that's the way I think it is, probably I'm wrong so any other info is well taken.

The HID's are NOT a black body source. They are xenon gas, which does not follow teh same temp:heat ratio of this black body. Heres some more readings:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_temperature

"However, many other light sources, such as fluorescent lamps, do not emit radiation in the form of a black-body curve, and are assigned what is known as a correlated color temperature (CCT), which is the color temperature of a black body which most closely matches the lamp's perceived color"

What im saying is that unless you have this black body, Temperature does not equal color temperature. So if I still haven't convinced you this informal argument might help.

The sun is 5770 K
The xenon bulbs i have are 8000 K

According to your arguments my bulbs are in fact physically hotter than the sun. How does that not melt the housing wink.gif
