So...how did you run your wires for your gauge install? Im going to be installin my gauges soon (finaly). For the power wires im thinkin of tappin power off the cig lighter just because it only has power when the cars on. As for running the wires to under the hood, i was gonna use the grommet in the drivers side fender well.
Im gonna be runnin a set of Stewart Warner guages. I have a volt meter, oil pressure, and A/F ratio. I know how to install the oil pressure and volt. But for the A/F do i just splice the wire onto the o2 sensor wire??? Any help would be great. |

DONT SPLICE!!!!!!!...
ive ran wires thru my fire wall....if u look on teh right side of the engine bay...under the sign for emissions and drill a hole equipped with a grommet......worked good for me..... negative recommmends me on using a speaker wire..thin as possible.....and wire it togther with your 02 sensor harness......the reason using a thinner wire is to not interfere with the original connections.....try it on different sides of the harness and when u turn your car on...(when The guage is on) it should be on LEAN....hope this helps.... pm negative as he taught me how to do it...... i tapped into it by the harness in the cabin, less wire to run in my mind, someone on here could correct me, buuuuut wire length would also be shorter - aka 6ft of wire from engine to inside + 2ft of wire to go to ur gauge = 8ft of wire
compared to 6ft of wire to go from engine bay to inside to ecu + 8ft of wire to go from engine bay to gauge = 14ft of wire hope that helps/makes sense, less of a run = less resistance = more accurate signal, not liek the extra bit really matters i guess -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

Def don't splice. It changes the signal that the ECU uses. I just took the wire and wrapped it around the appropriate prong on the harness where the o2 sensor clips onto the engine wiring harness. Therefore no splicing or anything. You can also use the no splice connections found at auto parts stores and they basically clip on to the stock wires and merely strip the insulation but don't damage the wires. Super easy to use. I would suggest those if you wanna make an easy and clean install. -------------------- ![]() |

Of what? The connectors or the A/F gauge hooked up? If the gauge - not much to see. You will see the wire go inbetween the two connectors on the o2 sensor. Inside it's just wrapped around the appropriate lead. I've had it that way for like 2 years now and no problems. I used the Megan A/F gauge as it gives a good reading with a needle instead of a lightshow. Love that gauge - except almost impossible to read in the daytime in Tx.
