There's an auction I need to win tonight but I really don't want to stay up 'til 2:00am to do it (this early time change is already killing me.)

What eBay sniping tools do you use?

My sniping tool is a T1 line, a high max bid and the ability to click refresh once every 3-5 seconds laugh.gif

my sniping tool is 2 pcs and a laptop all setup on the same auction..lol
laptop for watching and refreshing, while the pc's both setup with bids few £'s apart...
so i let the auction get to last few seconds then i drop bids from both pc's...lol works for me (sometimes)..lol

Nothing is wrong with max bid. When I use eBay, I set my max bid and let it go up until the last 10 minutes- thats when I sit down and start hitting refresh

Its important because you can set a max bid now, but if someone outbids you, you don't have the chance to think of re-bidding. That happened to me with a shift knob. I set my max bid and went to sleep, only to find that someone outbid me in the middle of the night and won. (I still got the knob, but thats a whole other story tongue.gif )

I guess what its all about is control. You want control over the auction. You want to be able to sit there (or not sit there) and know that when someone else bids, you'll bid back. eBay will bid up to a number you have set, sniping programs bid to a certain point and when that point is met, it automatically sets a new max bid that you have set.

you would mind if the person outbids you by 2 cents.

that is why you wait for the last second to bid. That way there are no people who slowly test and push you to your max bid price.

When you bid big intially. You provoke other bidders to bid higher, They think they can just bid a little more and get the item. So 10 dollars here and 10 dollars there and BAM you lose your auctoin because someone slowly bid there way past your max price by a couple cents.

Thanks Forkee. That's exactly what I wanted. I've won most of my other auctions manually sniping but I'd rather be sleeping tonight.

Congrats.

I used bidnip to win a piano last summer. Lots of bidders too. Very effective program.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

that's what I do and look at the results.

LOOK !

bidnip is excellent but there is nothing like doing it yourself, feels like a race against all other. I love it.

I most certainly did. I copied and pasted your email address right into the refer field during sign up. I wonder what happened?

cheaters never win. I wish E-bay would use the 15min rule similar to Gunbroker.com's set up. Every bid adds 15 min to the auction time. That way sellers could get market price for their goods and people whom thought they were getting a good deal don't get screwed in the last "2 seconds"
