So about a month ago someone tried to break into my car. All they where successful at doing was bust the hell out of both door handles. The back half of the handle is gone as is half of the key cylinder. It still locks as they where unable to get in but to get out of the driver side I have to roll down the window and open it from the outside.

I take it to a body shop and they tell me (after waiting for them to call for 3 weeks) that the parts are on back order from Toyota.

So long story short, I will be getting a check from insurance in a few days, I have messed up door handles, and I have no idea what to do with it.

Could someone please direct me to someplace or someone that might have the parts?

Did the door handles go unchanged for the whole 6th gen?

I would check out some junk yards for door handles. Cheaper than Toyota dealers, and its still Toyota!

The only think I'm not sure what to do about is the locks. If you picked up different locks at the junkyard you would need a key for them.

I think the mr2 and 5th gen celica uses same door handles.. I never checked it out, but they look pretty similar. My 5th gen, I swear, I'm sure they are the same.
Somebody can probably look up for parts number, maybe they're the same outside but different inside.

as for the key cylinder, you need to go to dealer to get some that matches your key.

Where in east texas are you? I went around a couple of junk yards in Houston about a week back and one of them had a wrecked ST hatchback in red.

About an hour from Beaumont, Woodville actually if you know where that is. I have friends in Houston.

What was the name of the junkyard? Thanks.

I don't remember. I wasn't really paying attention to the names. All I remember was that they were along Airline Drive off of 45 north. Just look for the places that "specialize" in Japanese vehicles. When I have time, I'll see if I can get the name of that junk yard.
