It sounded great, Mixing subs is always a Good Idea because there is no one sub on the market that can hit every note. The Kickers could slam the lows, while the Mtx would hit most of the highs. I was running Prefabbed Box's, Crappy Amps and Still had the loudest system out of anyone.

Haha, Just cause you got money, and were able to invest in your system doesnt mean anyone can. Example With only 300$ I built my friend a Loud as$ system. Alpine Fully Motorized Deck 60$, MTX Tunder 280rms Amp ( 50$ ), For 2 10" Dual Vocie JBLs in a Bandpass Plexi Box ( 80$ ), then a Fanzar or some no name brand amp at 600rms ( Free ), pushing 2 12" Kicker Comps in a Dual Chamber Sealed Box ( 80$ ). At the car show he pulled 155 DB's. I can Hear Him over 1 mile away. He had to add a Second Battrey to support all the power. All this In a 1983 Blazer.

Ok...........

Mixing subs is going to give you mixed frequency responses just as you said. The problem is each sub is going to have different responses in different boxes. They will also have different transient responses and that can isolate each sub to your ear. Not a good idea. Having different subs crossed differently to play different frequencies is fine if using a steep slope. When different subs are combined it normally just sounds like mush to me. All kinda blends together a little.

Each sub will distort differently. Each sub will have different power handling. Each sub will have different impedance spikes. Each sub will have different power compression.

And as far as it being louder...I doubt it. Acoustic coupling wouldnt be as great. And with the different TR they could actually cancel each outer a bit if the phasing is off enough.

155db, seriously, that wouldn't break 140db. What meter was it? Where was the mic?

I hit 148.7 w/ my 2 12's, but I've changed my setup some now so I should hit 150+. This summer i'll have a custom ported box and maybe a new amp and headunit, so my goal is to be 155-160dB.

What kind of 12's do you have? Sealed hiting over 145db with 2 12's? Unlikely.

I have 2 Kicker SoloBaric L7's and believe me they hit. They're pushed by a 1600 watt DHD Power Cruiser amp.

Is the DHD amp the 2-ch NTX-3105? They say 1600w, thats max power rating. That amp puts out 540w RMS....270w per L7?? Sealed?? Over 145db??? Not possible. What mic was this? I would advise you to get a different amp that gives at least the L7's full RMS rating, if not more. Any build a ported box, good idea.

The amp is 2 channel and its bridged. I'm not guaranteeing that the mic was accurate, but it was at a professional car audio place. I have the paper @ home w/ a print out of it. I'd scan it in for proof, but my comp isnt working and the ones im using here @ school dont have scanners.
