ESPN the Magazine has an upcoming section of this new and upcoming sport called Parkour that is taking over the country. Colleges from Colorado, Wisconsin (i forget the others) have Parkour teams and the people that participate are called Traceurs. Talks are in works with the X-Games to try and make this an actual event. One of the main inventors of this sport is David Belle and has to be the most AMAZING athletes i've ever seen. And he's also out of his mind. Take a look see.

repost..there were like 2 or 3 threads about this last year. I do parkour every so often. I trained back in toronto with my buddy Dan-o. Hes pretty nuts. He was actually featured in a Rogers mobile tv comercial that they flew him to London for.
Roger's Parkour add\ *Dan-O is the guy who does the backflip off the wall at the end* Hes also been on Much Adrenaline on muchmusic for an interview. Its actually not that hard of a sport when your starting off, like im not the most fit person out there, but i was suprised about what i am capable of doing. Personaly, i think Parkour in the x-games would suck. The sports a good sport and hasnt gotten main stream, if it goes to the x-games, your gonna have kids trying to jump off roofs doing back flips and killing them selves because they dont have the proper training. It takes ALOT of practise and alot of training to learn this stuff. When i was living back in Toronto, i would train with Dan for roughly 3 hours a day, 3 days a week and would train by my self around my neighbourhood for maybe another hour a day. Its a good sport to get into, but just make sure you can do it safely and know your limit when starting. Also STRETCH!!! First day i did it, i didnt stretch enough and i couldnt walk the day after..like i literaly couldnt walk..lol. But yea, bring water, stretch, and bring any atheletic support your gonna need *knee braces, wrist tape, ankel supports, etc.* |
