THIS IS NOT A DEBATE THREAD. SO CUT IT OUT. If you don't agree with it, don't post. If do agree, post with some useful information pertaining to the TOPIC.

this pertains the the thread how? at least I mentioned guns / home protection.

Look at all the countries that have banned guns. There's really nothing more of an arguement against your hollow and uneducated opinion.

If you're afraid of guns and the effect they have, then don't get them. If you're intelligent and responsible, and want that "protection", go for it. Remington is always a good brand.

I myself went with Springfield-Armory, the XD series:
XD-9 w/ Lasermax tactical rail-mount laser (9mm service handgun, full grip, 4" barrel):

XD-40SC w/ pearce grip extension (.40cal sub-compact handgun, short grip, 3" barrel):

I know, not a shotgun, but still damn sexy. And damn fun at the range. smile.gif.

I have a Remington 1187 that I love shooting (mostly bird hunting), but shotguns aren't the best for protection. Handguns are great for protection. If you can, try and get a concealed weapons permit. I don't know how California laws are or anything.

No - any country that will not allow honest law-abiding citizens to own guns for home protection is fcuked up. Period. Do you think the criminals care if there is such a law? No - they are criminals - they break laws. This is so obvious it's retarded.

But i will tell u what if some1 broke in my place and ne1 of my family was in neway shape or form in danger or risk of their lives that guy will get it. Send me to jail when im done but when it comes down to it ne1 on this sight would do the same thing if it came to family. No matter what country u are in.

i think 870 is gonna be the one i pick. I totally agree with you, if someone came into my home and endangered my family i'd definiately teach that punk a lesson he wouldn't soon forget.

My neighborhood ain't bad...its just i don't want to have to depend on cops coming to the rescue, they don't have the best track record in my city (not that cops are bad tho, just a LITTLE SLOW). Im not buying the gun with the intention to shoot anybody, im buying it for added protection and peace of mind. Is it wrong for me to want to defend myself should something happen???

That's not the point. It's a matter of availability. Because guns are legal... getting them is MUCH MUCH easier for the common criminal than say in a country where guns are illegal.

I agree with the fellow from the UK... America is f*cked up... but probably not for the same reason. Take Canada for example. Guns are legal there... but they don't kill each other like we do in America. Why? because they aren't ignorant morons who are afraid of every little thing.

statistics show that most people who buy a gun for home protection end up never using it in that manor. accidental shootings, suicide or homicide are the most common result from buying a gun.

if you want to protect your home, buy a security system and better locks for your doors.

how about we do it this way.. Find the statistics that say when ppl buy guys thats mostly what happens... I would deff like to see that. Becuase its totall b.s. Im gonna stop now on this subject its just pissing me off horribly. But back to the main subject the 870 is the way to go. Its even a great gun for shooting up some clay pigons at the range! Its a great recreation sport to get into. Even get a bow and do some target shooting with that its actually a great challenge.

im not sure about those stats, my family has had guns in the family for as long as i can remember, no accidental shootings or murders or suicides. Many of my friends families are the same. But hey everyone has a right to their own opinion, if you feel a home security system is sufficent go on ahead and get one. I want last little bit of insurance...nothings gonna change a burglars mind more than the sound of the pump action on a shotgun!!!

yup im set on the remington. gonna be picking it up soon.

I want proof that over 51% of all gun purchases have resulted in that. Until that, you're just talking out of your ass, and you're just stating how you think things are.

That's like saying that 1 out of every 2 people that buy a gun end up having that gun cause an unintended, or unnecessary shooting.

That's ridiculous.

Prove it, or you're just full of even more shxt than you normally are.
