Ok guys, you got me... I will write how i made my kit smile.gif I Hope you will get everything right...

First step - Idea

Everything starts from idea. All you need is good imagination, sheet of paper and a pencil. I used my car outline that i made with photoshop:

Then i printed the outline and used pencil to draw the design that i had in my head:
*This is just the example*

Same way i drawed the rearend design and side skirts...

Then i got the look on the paper, i started to think about actualizing it.

Second step - Makink the mold

For the mold i used 2 component poliuretanium foam, it dryes very fast and it is easy to cut and sand. For the base i took my original front bumper, cleared it with some sort of alcohol ( i dont know how you guys call it in english smile.gif ) and i used the aliuminium foil on my bumper that the foam didnt sticked to it. Then everything was prapared i mixed the foam. Then the foam was in liquid form i started to put it on my bumper. Put some sort of wooden or plastik panel under you front bumper and adjust the height of it (the height of the panel must me the same as your new front) I used the foam to get the right height in the places that i needed:

Then the foam was dry the first thing was to get off the panel from the foam (i just used knife to cut it from the form) after that i started to cut the form from the foam . Cut the right form and try to make both sides of the bumper equal as you can smile.gif (cuz you dont want to have some sort of asymmetric look biggrin.gif) Then the form was cuted i started to sand it with some rough sandpaper. sand the form til it get the final look and all the part of your new bumper are symmetrical and good looking smile.gif

Third step - Fiberglass

Then the mold is finished, use some sort of wather glue to glue the aluminium foil to your mold, do it carfully and dont leave spaces. Then the aliuminium foil is glued, start to lay down the fiberglass. I used 4 layers of fiberglass, and the final product had the 4 mm thickness. Then the fiberglass is dry try to remove it from the mold. Remove the finall product, and after that remove the mold from the car. Then the mold is removed mesure the final product on uor car, and enjoy the new look smile.gif

The look after the some bondo and primer took place smile.gif

This is the basic teory how to make your own fiberglass kit, if where will be more questions let me know, i will try to answer them:)

Hope you guys get it all what i wrote... It was hard for me, cuz im not so good in english, so forgive me for the mistakes i made frown.gif

P.S. For MY bumper i didnt used the aliuminium foil cuz i didnt wanted it to be removed, so i used the foam straight on my bumper and the fiberglass was layed straight on the foam too. Then fiberglass dryed i used about 50 rivet's to fix the fiberglass to my front bumper.

P.S.S.

Coomer if you think this could go to HOW-TO section feel free to add it... And please correct all the grama and speling... biggrin.gif

Thanks for reading biggrin.gif

yours truly doGGy biggrin.gif

I'm really impressed. That's beyond my level of creativity! I might try to make some 'Curren' style mud guards though...

Where do you find the foam?

Hmm. I have a couple of questions. When you were putting down the foam, was it an actual seperate piece from your original bumper. I don't have my car yet, but I'm going to try and make a custom kit for my brother. However, I don't want to ruin his only bumper. Like, let's say I do the foam and the fiberglass, what happens when I remove the fiberglass, do I then have two seperate bumpers? confused.gif I'm just kind of confused on that. Also, my other question is how you made the outline in Photoshop. I mean, did you take a photo and use a special effect? I don't know how to do that, but I do have Photoshop.

I'v been on avcations, so sorry for no quick replay smile.gif

If you gona use aliuminium foil on your bumper BEFORE you put the foam you will have 2 separate pieces, if NOT the foam WILL stick to the bumper and the bumper may be mesed up if you try to remove the foam from it smile.gif Thats the same with fiberglass.

About outline, i took the picture used the special effects and then cleaned the unused or unesesry parts smile.gif I will write more on this, let me check it out smile.gif

In Lithuania we call it like this, i dont know but i think in US it may be called the same. Try to make the research biggrin.gif
