Hey everyone, I'm a former 5th gen owner, current SVX owner, and I'm considering buying a 6th gen GT hatchback (5-speed naturally) and doing the Curren conversion. Besides the cost of the car, how much should I expect to pay for the fenders, hood, bumper, and lights from the Toyota Curren? Is the conversion easy to do for someone who can turn a wrench? Where should I look besides ebay for Curren conversion parts? thanks everyone!

u will need the radiator core support for the front of the car. Ull need to remove the celica's, and weld on the curren's. not a task for your "guy who can turn a wrench"

ebay is the only way to find it "cheap" and by cheap ur looking at close to ~1k for it all. (thats without shipping)

now, I'd basically be buying a front clip sans engine, correct?

besides the welding of the support, will the fenders and hood and everything else bolt into place?

also, any wiring issues with the headlamps? I'm going to take a wild guess and assume the connectors won't be the same as a bug-eye

Headlamps and lights wiring should be the easiest part. If sockets are different, you could buy the correct one from Autozone or whatever.

There's a member on here with the Curren conversion and a M3 front bumper, forgot his name.....

who is player with the curren IPB Image

IPB Image

Core support needs to be DRILLED <---key word here out and the curren one needs to be DRILLED out of the clip
realign, measure, correctly fit and weld in the supports,
fenders, hood, bumper, headlights, corner lights all sorta bolt in from there, along with fitment and adjustments, plus a few wiring changes.

it requires someone with experience in welding and fabrication.
you need to ensure correct fitment to prevent and eliminate any distortion in the body

what playr means by "drilled out" is that the core support is tack welded to the frame of the car. and u need to literally drill out those tack welds in order to get the celica core support off.

(that was just for clarification...just incase)

No, I gotcha man. This is something I should probably let a body shop handle. I was just putting feelers out on the Curren conversion, I'm keeping my SVX for now smile.gif
