Anti-Street racing movement, thought i would share the idea Options

Since the topic of street racing and street racing crimes came up thanks to this thread, i figured i would bring up the idea that me and a bunch of my friends a few years back decided to start doing.

Back in Toronto, autosports is a big thing, aswell as street racing. In the last year, I have had 2 friends die due to "street racing"..i put it in brackets because thats what the police called it. One of them was in a street racing accident, got sideswiped and slid into a hydro pole sideways. The other one was considered street racing because he was speeding and drivng a modified car. Any ways, back on topic.....

Because of the amount of street racing in Toronto, and all of my friends being into the import and drift scene, we decided to show a way that we do not street race and we are against it, and only race on a track. We were thinkin of gettin stickers, but we didnt wanna have some big stickers hangin off our car, and also wanted to get somethin that kinda represented our selves aswell. What we came up with is mascots.

What is a mascot??

the little guy hangin off the back tow hook is my mascot. We each have a different mascot on our cars representing our selves. I chose Jack from the nightmare b4 chrismas because of the type of guy i am, i relate alot to his character, aswell as im into alot of darker things. My friend Adam is a bit over weight and italian, so he has Mario hanging off the back of his car. My friend Mike has Bowser because hes like 6'5 and 260lbs..lol. My girl friend has Kerropi the frog hanging off the back of her car because for one, her 83 looks like a frog, and also its got angel wings, so thats what represents her.

Any ways, I think that just by having these mascots on the back of our cars, it gives support to other anti street racers. This whole idea started off with about 13 guys, and now there are probably 200 people in toronto who have them on the back of their car. Its nothing majour, like we are stopping street racing as it happens, but its growing support to get street racing to stop.

Its just plain stupid, its a waste of money, time, and lives. If you want to race, get off the streets and onto a track. No matter what kind of racing you want to do, they have facilities for it and legal events that are monitored and also supervised by the right authorities and has medical crews on staff.

I think that we could get this trend to spread across our club, we could spread it further. Personaly, i wanna stop street racing completely, make senstancing and fines for people involved in street racing alot harsher. As of right now, in Ontario, you only get a slap on the wrists and a fine. I think there should be a minimum sentancing of at least a month in jail for street racing. Its a serious crime that does kill inocent people wihtout warning.

What do you people think about the idea?..im not trying to change the world here, just trying to spread the word and trying to get some of the laws changed.

I like the idea behind that, its just too bad that people here already have mascots like that that on their car. But its too late i think to attatch the anti street racing message behind it. I hope it does well for you guys up north though

I have a Hello Kitty TRD badge im my car.. I think that stops people from trying to race me =] I just get wierd looks when they find out that its not a female driving.. hahaha

I also like the idea, but again agree with eggman40. It is too late to attach the anti street-racing message behind mascots. I especially like the idea of using the tow hook. Perhaps a chequered flag tow hook cover. Maybe red and white checks rather than black and white?




Or a red/white chequered flag racing tow hook?
