QUOTE(Coomer @ Jul 2, 2007 - 8:05 AM)

Yesterday I sold the Celica, and it was very sad, but today I got my new car.
...
I know everyone is sad to see the Celica gone (I am too), but this car is really a great car. What do you guys think?

That car actually looks quite sweet! I can see why you like it - it does look a bit like a Toyota/Lexus relative - not a sibling but perhaps a first cousin?

I especially like the rims and the headlights. The headlights make it look a bit like the Soarer. I'm not keen on the taillights (the Spyder Del Sol tails look okay to me) and the seats might be comfy but they don't do anything for me either. But the biggest thing I noticed was just how crowded that engine bay looks after your Celica biggrin.gif

Well it should certainly be an interesting journey - I hope you'll take us all along for the ride wink.gif A couple of questions:

1. Any idea how much your Del Sol weighs?
2. Anyone put a H22 into a Celica or a 3SGTE into a Del Sol? I'd love to know how the motors themselves compare, stock to stock (or tuned to tuned).

Kudos on the pics. Finally, lets see some more pics of the interior and please let us know how it drives.

Dont think you can compare a 2.2 Liter N/A engine against a 2.0 Turbo.

The H22 makes 185-200 bhp right?

H22 is rated at 190hp. and thats from a JDM Prelude 92-00

edit: with his top end mods, hell be pushing at least 200 at the wheels.

Okay, so somewhere between the 3SGE and 3SGTE in terms of power. Very interesting. Is there a turbo equivalent of the H22?

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm already hard at work working on the hood and stuff.

I'll have to weigh the car, but stock it weighed in at under 2300 lbs. Now I'm sure it's heavier though.

And the car made 201 whp on the dyno by the way. smile.gif

f20c alone is 230hp at the crank

so i guess thats close to a 3sgte. toss a turbo on it run 8 psi and ull out do a 3sgte easy.

Nice car Coom! I bought a Del Sol new back in 93 - it was a blue Si.
It was completely stock when I sold it in '99 to buy my Celi 'vert!
I loved it except for an annoying "thunk" in the targa every time I turned.

you cant compare that motor to a 3s. the 3s will clearly make more power. but the thing that will make his del sol quick is the fact that it has 200whp... swapped into a go cart.

Sad to see the celica go, but you got yourself a quick little car that handles really well. I hope you don't plant to do any big audio upgrades or re-wiring is in order. Stock del sol wiring blows lol.

If you get rid of the wheels, get another set of azenis. Just a great tire for the money, especially if you're not going to be running it as a daily driver. Otherwise, treadwear will eat up your wallet pretty quick wink.gif

I liked the Celi better, but you haven't put your hand to this one yet. I have faith in you, young grasshopper biggrin.gif

That engine/tranny combination in that tiny car scares even me, guys im sure his h22 would walk all over my 3sgte with his b16 tranny...its a killer combo, I lost to a similar swap in a 93 hatchback, and it ran 12.3 in the 1/4~!!
