Thinking about getting an ebay header for my 94 ST, and wondered about the effect on fuel economy.

People have said that the ebay header moves power up into the higher rpms.

Now, will less power in the lower band mean better or worse gas mileage for city driving? How about highway speeds?

Also, how much does the ebay header weigh VS. stock exhaust manifold?

Thanks

its about 1/2 the weight of the stock manifold, i've had no loss of MPG, its very driveable you loose a little power at low rpm but gain more uptop. i can easily get 28mpg around town stop and go and 36 highway isnt untainable. 32mpg at 3000 in 4th even!

Do you have one of those computers that shows you your mpg and other info? What are some models that work with OBDI celicas/cars? How cheap do they get?

Thanks!

They have those computers that you can hook up to your OBDII sensors, not sure how much they run tho. Most do math calculations, run close to empty, put X gallons, run close to emply again, Calculate miles from last fill up and divide by how many gallons were put it, you will need to do this 2-3 times to insure its accurate.

That's how I calculate my MPG, I just love cars that have the instantanious mpg display. Really cool for helping you figure out what works for getting good gas mileage.

Any OBDI models available though? Not sure if the aftermarket would cater to the older standard at all. Might be able to scavenge something from an older "upscale" car(my parents 1993 Chrysler Town and Country has one built in).

Yea, Hyundai and Honda have the info on a (normally) unused ECU pin. I went looking for the equivilent for the 3SGE a few months ago but looks like our ECUs don't bother calculating it - either that or it is on an undocumented ECU pin.

fuel economy... i really dont see that happening. when i had my header in the fuel economy stayed the same. the car was louder was the only noticable thing.

with the plugs/wires/intake/header/exaust and a straight pipe with a tuned afc i only got about 107 hp and about 119 trq. ill find the dyno sheet somewhere. the fuel stayed the same but the car seemed a little more response on the higher rpms.
