Hi all, I rarely use the air con or fans in my car as i like opening windows instead.

One sunny day (a rare occasion in UK), I turned on the climate control/air con and it was on full blast. I was smacked in the face by bits of grey foam pieces from each of the vents. I guess these 'bits' just perished with age. I am wondering if I should replace these - do they do anything special, is it worth repairing?
Has anyone done these before - if so, how do you do it?

Same happened to me the other day. I really hate the A/C on this car, so I rarely use it. At night and on cloudy days, it gets too damn freezing cold and during sunny days, it doesn't cool at all.

not to worry, if i am correct they are only lineing around the outsside/behind the vent to keep it stable when positioned....with age they deteriate and break apart...happens with every car so i wouldnt worry about it at all.....good luck even trying to find them things...you would prolly have to take them off of another car and that would be more of a hassel then anything

I noticed that foam stuff when I was replacing some console things a while back. It was deteriorating nicely too tongue.gif

Anyway, I believe that it is to keep only the circulated air in the system. Since the fuzzy stuff fell apart, I have noticed that even when I have my fan and entire CC system completely off, it still gently pushes some hot air out of the middle vents.

when taking out my heat/ac unit i noticed this stuff was looking decrepit. i was sorta thinking some weatherstripping might work as a replacement.
