I picked up a lighted key ring today when i was at the wreckers for sarahs ST. I fallowed the wire down as far as i could, but i couldnt see where exactly it leads to. i was wondering what colour wire i should tap into to get the light to work. Or should i just tap into somethin like the cig lighter to give it power and just have it on all the time??

the ST should ahve the plug for it, just like the GT. Take off the bottom panel, then the support panel behind that, you should see it zip tied next to the ignition plug.

of course, this is for USDM celicas...

checked...no plug...and its a USDM ST too. only socket that looked similar to it was for the little switch that goes up into the tumbler to make the dinging sound when your keys are in the ignition.

some dont have it...like mine. I think you need to hook it up to some power source like the doorlight or the illumination output of some alarm.

any idea of what wire to tap into to get power to it only momentarly?? or should i just tap into my cig lighter??? Im thinkin the cig lighter might work just as good because the alarm im gonna be installing on the car flashes the side markers, tails, and interior lights when its ingaged...also if i had the lights on, it will light up aswell.

if you can get the alarm with illumination output then you can hook it up..mine illuminates for abt 30 seconds b4 fades out. If you dont have that with ur alarm then following diagram should help you make an light delay...

IPB Image

with this setup you will get abt 1 second after closing the door...to extend the time simply increase the capacitor value...say 40k..abt 20 sec.

...dont mind my crappy drawing.
