I started my car last night and the RPM got up to normal idle, i put the car in reverse and as i let off the clutch and started back my RPM's dropped and the car shuddered. When i pressed the gas harder it continued to drop, the problem stopped after about a second, so i thought all was fine. I started down the road and 1st gear and 2nd gear ran fine, i shifted into 3rd and the car got to around 2k rpm and wouldnt go any higher, regardless of how hard i pushed the gas pedal, i thought i lost 3rd gear so i down shifted to save the car and it shuddered even harder. Now, with the car dead in the middle of the road, it tries to start and one cyl. fires then dies again...idk where to start and have got many opinions including fuel pump, fuel filter, timing, and a bad cam, i trust people on here more than the morons down at autozone...
If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated Thanks Ryan |

fuel pump...im not sure why this happens but when i change the light of my cluster, then start my car it did the same thing, coincidence?? But maybe because my house is built on an angle thats why maybe the fuel flown backward and had air space in the rails???
On the bright side it was fine after 15 mins of attemps, just drive it slowly let the fuel rin smooth again. It should work. Hope that helps. This post has been edited by lubu: Sep 3, 2007 - 12:14 PM -------------------- ![]() 98% completion --- aaRon |

Well I just went through the a similar problem and replaced many things that did not need replacing. In the end it was something in my distributor most likely the coil and once I swapped it out it fired right up and runs perfectly. If it is the distributor coil it will slowly get worse and eventually not run. Just like it is lacking fuel. I would check for fuel pressure with a fuel gauge and if it is good get a new used distributor or rebuild the old one with a new coil and anything else in there that can be replaced(inside the distributor). If you want to follow my misery just look up a post started by me bdog_v about a map sensor. It goes through my whole experience. Good Luck!!

A whole new set of problems has just arised, come to find out it was a bad vacume line to the engine is why it wouldnt start up right, it ran and idled fine until i tried to hit the gas and go, then the rpm's drop down, if i can manage to get the RPM's over 3k it runs fine until i push the gas to the floor... im seriously stumped as to what it can be now...
