I could probably look it up on the site...or Coomer could tell you...but the MR2s shared the same engines as the Celica.

I've never heard of anyone dropping in a SW20 3S-GTE(Which is a 2nd gen 3S-GTE), but I'd imagine that it'd drop in using your stock motor mounts, and I think(though I'm not sure) that you'd be able to use your stock tranny, but it may not last long with boost. You wouldn't necessarily need a new hood either. Mike(Qatar11) had his 2nd gen 3S-GTE running in his car for a while under his stock hood and front bumper with no major heat problems.

i thought that SW20 was a 3rd gen engine and it was another name for the ST205 and that an ST185 was 2nd gen??

SW20 is the MR2 model, st205 is the 6th gen GT-4, and st185 i believe is the 5th gen alltrac, which both the st185 and SW20 have the 2nd gen 3sgte, good thing about these engines are they are already USDM spec so those who would run into emissions problems with the JDMs fear not! with a GT model celica, any 3sgte is a direct swap, stock engine mounts, tranny, axels etc will all work fine, however id recommend beefing the components of each up a little bit after a short while. its because the 3"s"gte and 5"s"fe share the same S block, making mounting points, tranny, and axels all adaptable. the problem with swapping a 3sgte in the ST model is that the ST runs a 7"a"fe, which the A block does not share common mounting points etc with the S block. therefore it would take a revamp of the whole drivetrain to work in an ST model. this is why with an ST you better buy a clip or youre going to have 1 hell of a time finding stuff. GTs dont need to worry about this. also the reason for the elevated hoods in the st185 and st205 (5th and 6th gen alltrac/gt-4) was to give room and proper ventihlation (SP?) for the topmount intercooler, it would be a good idea to convert to this but it isnt necessary. and if you want proper ventihlation w/o the new hood, you can reroute the intercooler and get a front mount. so the turbo its self has nothing to do with it. -------------------- ![]() Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm...
