Why is it that whenever u order a Chinese chicken/beef dish it comes with like 85% vegetables and like 10% meat and like 5% sauce? What a rip-off !!!

good rant, it's restaurants like these that keeps me from coming back. i've been going to many chinese restaurants around here and ordered similar dishes (minced beef and assorted vegetables with bean curd or black bean sauce.. IPB Image mmmm...).

i rate restaurants by the proportion of meat and vegetables they hand out. taste comes second.

Tell them to open up a restaurant in North NJ.

I like to rate not by meat/veggie ratio, but more quality-quantity/price.

For instance, yesterday I went to a place called "zao noodle bar" and got.... well I don't remember the name, but it was chicken, beef, noodles (duh), veggies, and ****ake mushrooms.

overall the food was great, but the price was crazy high (for what it was).

thus - never going back there.

edit... wtf, we can't say ****ake? hmmmm $hitake better? sheesh.

not me...if the food is great, then its worth the money. i would much rather fork over the extra money to pay for a better burger at Fuddruckers than eat a Whopper at BK. Just like i would rather pay the 8 dollars for a fajita at Chipotle than eat anything from Taco Bell. No thanks.

Im hungry...lunch time !

IMO, it's not so much that you're getting ripped off... that's how the recipe is for that particular dish. Chinese traditionally don't have "meaty" dishes, besides the obvious BBQ pork on a stick or whatnot. As far as stir fry goes, meat is not the focus of the dish. It's merely there for flavoring. Complaining about that is like complaining that your "chicken flavor" ramen doesn't have chicken.

When the menu says..."beef WITH broccoli" or BEEF in garlic sauce...then i think the focus of the dish is beef, because the word beef comes first and is categorized on the menu in the beef section. its pretty much common sense dont u think? But of course when u get the dish its actually like 85% broccoli and u get like 5 pieces of beef and u get the beef in garlic sauce and u get all these mushrooms, veggies and other crap and no beef. they shouldnt mislead their consumers like that or they could at least rename the dishes. either that or lower ur prices because vegetables dont cost that much in comparison to meat.
