I have a 3s swap and was wondering if i needed the AFM for the motor to run? The AFM and the plug that goes into the AFM doesn't match up.

If it's a second gen swap you will.

You probably have an RC AFM and a regular wiring harness or vice versa.

Post some pics and I'll tell you what you need.

Ive got a afm someone here sold me and it plugs in, but runs terrible. Its obviously NOT for the 3sgte even though they said it was. The inlet is was Smaller than the 3sgte one. kindasad.gif The part # is scratched off. So watch out for this and make sure you have a legible part # on the afm you buy

I dont think thats an RC wiring harness. My colors are totally different.
You might have an RC AFM with gen 2 harness, take a dail caliper and measure the exit side of the AFM.

That's an igniter plug... It can be modified to fit the RC AFM. You should have two plugs on your harness that look similar to that one. Make sure to plug the AFM into the one that is going to VC, E2, and VS on the ECU. Do not plug it into the one going to +B, IGT and IGF, that one is for the igniter.

What are the part numbers for the Igniter, ECU, and AFM?

Post your part numbers!

What are the wire colors coming from the plug in the picture you just posted? What are the wire colors on the plug you have going to your ignitor?

The AFM part number 22250-74250
The ECU part number 89661-2B310
The harness part number 82121-2G770-C
The Igniter part number 89621-12050

but running the ECU part number 89661-2B280

i'll need to go to the shop and take more pix but the connector that was posted has these wires. IPB Image

the other connector that looks the same also has the same colors but different connector. Just the connectors are different.

Do not run ECU P/N 89661-2B280 with AFM P/N 22250-74250. That ECU is NOT meant to be used with RC AFM!

Install ECU P/N 89661-2B310 immediately!

The good news is that all the other part numbers you listed are for the GT4RC. You'll need to figure out which one of the plugs has a wire going to VS on the ECU. That is the plug you need to use. Some where in the harness that plug will have been spliced into wires which end up at E2, VC, VS, and THA.

The MAPECU needs to be hard wired but it comes with the wires and instructions for the install.

Why have you given up on the RC AFM and ECU?

because i can't find the connector that runs from the main harness to the AFM..i really need the car to be running now...its been in the shop for 1 year already...the pinout on the jdm ecu and the RC ecu is the same(i opened both) but different mapping and dont know if the wiring is the same though...so i figured if i get a piggyback or standalone.

unless someone can find me the connector for the AFM...frown.gif
