upgraded cams for 7afe HELP Options

ok i just got sum upgraded cams for the 7afe there from japan and offer 14-18 more hp..i was told ther a striat drop in other than having to get shims for the vavles, and reseting the timming after installed..my question is how do u go about getting these shims, and how do u install the shims...or better yet a whole how to for the whole install and setting timming....any info or sugestions help thanx Lance

short answer, if you don't know, don't do it, pay someone else to.

If you really, really want to do this yourself then get a friend there with you who has done something like this before.

If you don't have such a friend then I'm sure someone here can get some pics up for ya!

I did this last week on my engine rebuild but didn't really take any pictures. I will re-create it eventually... maybe tomorrow morning, and post some pictures and how to do it.

i bought them through a freind...he ordered them from sum jdm website i think, theres not really any part number on them except theres sum numbers that say 5A 22 on one cam and the other says 5A 26..i dont know if that helps but if i cant figure out how to get these in myself id be willing to sell them for about 150 or best offer...they are a striat drop in other than setting timming and getting shims for the head or valves but im kinda stuck on what to do as for my freind went over to japan untill the 19 of november so i cant ask him what all i need to do to get these cams in ......my last resort is to take the cams and my car to a import tunner shop and just give them to them and have them put them n and dyno tune it...just need sum more cash..any body want to make me an offer for them i may just sell them...

yeah, I've never seen any cams for a reasonable price for us...

hmm.. could be for the 5a but the cams are set up just like the 7a's cams im goin to try to get into contact with my budy who is in japan right now for toyota so hopefully i can get the specs n all the info on these cams...as far as pics ill try to get sum up on here 2day....from what he told me they are a strait drop in just have to set the timming after the install cause u have to re-shim the valves....im goin to ask a shop 2day how u do this... pics are on my profile...cams and my t3 man..

yeah, i posted a thread couple months ago mentioning i do have fren dropping 5A cam into 4A/7A claimed the cam have higher cam lift. All need to do is re-shim the valves.

Waiting for your good news bro. Hopefully your fren cam not only having higher lift but also better cam duration.

Hey thanx alot that was what i was after for seems easy enough..are u running the same cam's as i am.or did u get diffrent ones..any ways let me know how ur whole build works out!
