Hey guys, I'm moving from eastern PA to Portland, OR. I'm leaving on the 26-27 of this month. Just wondering if anyone on here is along the way (I-80) and might be kind enough to put me up for a night. Money is tight and I don't want to have to waste it on hotel stays and I'd prefer not to sleep in the 4runner lol.

I am probably out of the way and Portland is only about 3 hrs from me.

Stay away from Gillette, WY. There's like only one hotel there to stay at and it is CREEPY! Oh, and if you're tired, and just sick of being on the road, don't think it's a great idea to just drive straight through from Yellowstone. I know it's close to Portland compared to PA, but believe me, it'll be the longest 14 hours of your life.

And don't drive through the Gorge in eastern OR at night... if you don't know the drive, the wind is some scary business!

I want to arrive in OR during the day... I'm planning on driving 12-15hrs at a time.. it'll be boring as all hell and tiring I know.. and as for any bad weather not too much of a concern. That's the reason I bought an 87 4runner with a 4" suspension lift and big ol' tires smile.gif

I guess the thing that concerns me is if I hit some ****ty weather after driving for like 10hrs and there is no place to settle in for the night.. Other than that I'm a road warrior.. I also know that when I get tired (like now.. haven't slept in 30hrs) my driving ability severely declines.. so I have to be mindful of that.

I am taking 80 all the way across the country and I do plan on buying some chains incase I need them.

I took 80 too, it's an amazing drive... and definitely get chains, if it's snowing in eastern Oregon you won't be able to get over the mountain pass without them, they're not only necessary, they're required. Oh, and there's plenty of places to stay along 80, but nowhere really to stay after you hit Cody, WY until you drop down into eastern OR.

I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I-80 runs right through here (I take it into work everyday). I may or may not be able to put you up for the night but I can at least take you to a good meal here in town. PM me.
