lol centaur i did see that, but you put it wrong when you say all 16 year olds cant handle a fast car, my friend had a Dodge Ram SRT-10 yea the truck with the 500 hp viper engine and he handled it for a while till he decided to be an idiot and burnout from a complete stop turing and flipped the truck i thought he died, i saw it happen......but then he got it fixed painted it viper blue and put 24's on it and it was fine
but i dont plan on doing what he did -------------------- ![]() |

Dude you should've gotten a faster car. Well with all this what would you do with 4-5 grand you should've used the 4-5g on a newer car with the price you paid for the one you got. OR get a civic, something I don't want to recommend but it worked for me.

If you really have your heart set on going fast. Get a compression check done. If you want to go into more depth get a leak down test. If numbers come out good boost the 7afe. You wont spend more than 2 grand. Then the extra money you can spend on looks OR suspension

too many people have civic's around here, i love my 6gen and i just want to see if 4-5 grand would be enough to do a complete 3s-gte swap and after that id work on handling you know what i mean, im young but im not an idiot but idk thanks for all the advice i do appreciate it, i just want a car like some of the members on here, who have really nice celicas with 3s's in them
ahah your right bc i already got a quote to paint my car pearl blue metallic for 2200 and id look sick, and yeah i do want better handling, i just want it all like everyone does, and thats a good idea to get compresson testing done, but why would i get that done if id be getting a swap anyway? -------------------- ![]() |

You don't need a 3s to have power. Boost the one you got. If you end up wanting more, which i doubt you won't have a problem with wanting more build the 7afe for mroe boost. You can also be different from members and swap in a 4agze and turbo it. Yes thats right twin charge the crap out of it. LOL. Its your call man. I say boost the SHIZNIT out of it.
I say compression test to boost the motor you got now. Not for the swap bud. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

haha alright i was confused for a second, because yeah thats what i orignally wanted was just a turbo to get me a little over 200hp then i said i dont know if a motor with 151k miles on it would be good to boost, and someone said swap and thats why i ran with it for so long i forgot about the turbo i originaly wanted

Okay your back to square one. I know you want boost. Who doesn't? Just be smart man. 4-5grand can go a long ways for a kid your age. I say save your money, for something more useful or important. Unless you really want to get into this tuning dealy. Remember you gotta pay to play. Since you want boost get your compression checked. If it shows no sign of wear boost it.

Research is right. Do lots of it. read up on all the threads about boosting a 7afe. It will help you out a lot in the long run. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

You wont have as much lag and you wont have problems with the turbo choking up.
No has nothing to do with the flange. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

Just do some research man. Dont get a turbo too small since it will drop off in power fast although it will give you insta boost. And dont get a turbo too big where you wont ever get boost.
Like I said before, you gotta PAY to PLAY. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

Here's an idea. Start off with searching around for a used kit. bolt that thing on. If you find that you don't something about it upgrade it.

Yes If you don't take care of a brand new turbo you're probably going to need a rebuild any way. to start off read this. NEW HEADERS???? You mean a header? we don't have a v6 nor v8. its not header its turbo manifold. You won't need a new fuel rail. just bigger injectors. You're going to need something to control your injectors with too. The most iomportant thing you need to remember about boosting is TUNEING. You need to correct tune to run good. You can aim for what ever horepower you want but without the correct tune you'll never get there. People blow their motors up because they neglect tuneing. Research first before you start to splurge all your money on turbo goodies.

FMU=Fuel Mangement Unit?
FPR= No idea???? turboxs MBC =??? EGT bun =??? FMIC= Front Mount Intercooler, id rather have this but more expensive for piping?? yeah i didnt mean to say header, and thanks for the correction of the Turbo manifold and i wouldnt start spurlging before i got a compression test and made sure it was worth it, and before i new every part i wanted to get and how to install it, id wanna try most myself but i couldnt do welding -------------------- ![]() |
