Ok so me and mah pops have taken apart most of the car but we got some questions cause the repair manual is not being specific enough.
We're trying to replace the clutch cause the clutch went out.

Its a 95 GT. Did anybody have to remove the exaust and the arms on the passenger side? How much did you take apart on it?

yes, everything you think is on your way, take it apart. I dont remember taking the arm on the passenger side, The passenger axel needs to go out.

Beware you ABS sensors, they seem to be very easy to break during a clutch change. I got a mecahnic to change my clutch and he killed from front nearside sensor. After googling ABS sensor celica there were a bunch of stories from people getting broken sensors after clutch changes.
Just a heads up.

Now while i do not have ABS on my car, i have done a clutch job on it and a gearbox swap,

the biggest things that need to come off are both axles, the exhaust midpipe that runs under then engine, then of course the front, rear, and left side engine mounts. There are also lots of small things like, airbox, starter motor, clutch slave cylinder....etc u get the picture.

I have never done the job following the haynes manual, so i dont know how specific or how brief they are. I have the toyota manual, if you have any questions about a specific things, just PM me and i will do my best to help u out. Good luck

Matt

MUCH safer and easier to unplug the sensor from the harness and take it off the car as a whole than to seperate it from the hub. i found this out the hard way. pull down the plastic wheel well liners and unbolt the harness and unplug it.

Ok we got everything it seems except the CV joint cup on the drivers side will not come out. We got the arm but the cup is still there and we can't get the trannie off without it. My dads friend is a mechanic and says its just supposed to pop out. We've tried lightly hammering it and prying it but we don't want to break it. We also tried hand pulling it. Any ideas?

Drive shaft not arm. Sorry about that. If the cup comes off will we be able to get the transaxle off without having to pull the suspension cross member?

You can use hard harmering against this cup. It's make of steel and will not pry or broke easily. You're not oblige to remove it. Let it in the tranny and when the tranny will be down, you will have enough room to work. You will need to remove both crossmembers (the one that link both sides of the car and the one that support the tranny).
