Ok i just went for a ride in my friends nissan 5-speed and the clutch on that thing is really strong...but i get in mine and it likes slips for half a second before it engages. You think it's time for a new one? Actually i'm almost positive it's time for a new one. How hard is it to put one in and what would be some really good clutches to look at?

ACT makes a good clutch - your going to have to take the tranny off, unbolt the pressure plate and take out the disc. Then replace it. The hardest part is getting the tranny off.
When you clutch is close to going, it engages really high up on ur pedal. What i mean is it engages when the clutch is almost all the way up. -------------------- |

Yeah that is what it does. I've replaced a clutch in my old Tacoma. It was a pain in the ars...

Actually... a lot of people (especially people that have done swaps) has had LOTS of issues with ACT. I was about to buy an ACT before I've read other board member's experiences. I'd recommend Clutch Masters over ACT. But it's up to you guys... just try it out... |

i put in new clutch not that long ago, i just got oem clutch, works for me lol
you will need access to a lift or ramp. good thing my dad owns his own shop, free use of tools and equipment ![]() |

You don't have any crazy performance mods. You should buy an oem clutch disc. It should last the life of your car. Yeah ACT fails to mention that their pressure plates won't work with stock oem discs. Their discs are modified, which means thinner than oem discs. Thus when you install an ACT pressure plate and oem disc, you clutch won't disengage.

where can i get a cheap OEM clutch then? Sounds like the best idea to me. I'm only doing cold air and exhaust. Nothing fancy at all.

I recommend an upgraded clutch. I went with a centerforce dual friction, 90% more grab than stock, and I love how it felt. I figure things go on your car so you can upgrade them, but thats just me.
