sorry guys but im still a little confused. both cars are identical apart from the engine size and the fact the 2000 is an automatic. i see that i gotta change the fly wheel and drive shafts. im confident ican re-sit the mounts and anything along them lines. ican make my own stainless exhaust system, but am terrible with electrics,(whats a fuse?!!). is tranny driveshafts? in england a tranny is either a ford transit or a transvestite. obviously i cant get a van in the engine bay and we still have laws against putting people under our bonnets!

Tranny is short for Transmission. What word do you use for transmission for short?

If the 2l engine is automatic then you will need to pick up a manual tranny (transmission!) from a GT, because yours will not work.

tranny??? transmission, is that our gearbox? Most of our cars are manuel 5 speed gearboxes which i think you guys call stick shift ???? we have drive shafts from wheels to gearbox. fly wheel is different to autos , which i believe you guys have, but the housing seems to be the same(?). was hoping i could change flywheels and mounts, then drop the lump onto it.???

No - bottom line: You need a new gearbox [tranny] to use the 3S-G[T]E or any of the "S" series motors for that matter.
If you are looking for something that just bolts up with no new tranny then you would want one of the 4A-G[Z]E variants but you would have to find out if your wiring would work. Most likely if you can't get this stuff done just get a new/used 7A-FE.

BTW - The [] in the engine numbers denotes an option you may not want for either:
[T] = Turbo
[Z] = Supercharger
Just drop that bit out of the number if you want NA

Hope this clears it up for you.

yes but why would you? you wouldn't get enough gains from it to make it worth your while. if you are going to swap an st i would just do a 4agze or go all the way and swap in a 3sgte.

For some reason, that struck me as hillarious (thinking about the 2 jay z with nas) other than the translation bits.

I actually got a good chuckle out of that too... for me, it evoked an image of either a very shabby dirty engine with a Little Bo Peep hat on the heat shield or the tranny from Rocky Horror lurking under the hood of the car.
