This is such a depressing thread can we keep it positive or at least try? I loved him in A Knights Tale..thought he was good looking in it. Anyone think it will bring a bigger crowd 2 TDK? I think so bc 3 ppl already told me they wanna see it just bc he played the joker. These are some of the reason y ppl see a movie.. like in Mr and Mrs Smith..bc it was the movie that drove Jennifer and Brad apart. RIP!

Yes he is an actor and yea I felt for his death. The first thing I thought was wow he is my brothers age it could have been him....then I was thinking if his death hit me like this I dont no how I would feel if it was a family member or friend...I never knew him personally or anything but I brought it into my reality...its sad but not even close to losing your own family member but just think he is someones dad someones son someones friend..as you are 2 ppl in ur life. I guess im thinking to much into it but its sad anyway you look at it.

never said that i was happy he's dead. i'm not. but i do think it's pretty silly how bent out of shape somebody gets when someone in hollywood dies. i've actually seen people more messed up from some hollywood star dying than they were when a family member or close friend died. those people (celebrities) are held in way too high of regard in my opinion.

I will agree that people do hold celebrities in far too high of a regard. But defaming him as a person because a book told you that its wrong to do something that a person portrayed doing in a theatrical role of a work of fiction is just pure, honest to god fail, sir.

"No problem."

Was that a statement about how he led his career, or a statement about how uncomfortable (or whatever) you felt when he made out w/Jake Gyllenhall? I don't see how the bible reference punctuated or can be assimilated to your assessment of his career.

I don't begrudge you your opinion, everyone's entitled to theirs, you just have to know that if you say something like that, you're bound to get some kind of response. This board has people of all backgrounds and walks of life, and it might be prudent of you to exercise restraint in your feelings on this matter if you're unable to exercise an open mind.

oh yeah, boo to him dying, sad to see him go, but in all honesty, i lost all respect for that man once he did brokeback (jake gyllenhall also). see Romans 1. sorry if i'm a jerk for saying that.

I love how religion wraps itself in morality.

Like most... too bad he's gone.

sorry for tossing out how i feel, wasn't trying to be an insensitive jerk to the deceased, i was stating how i felt about how he led his career.

People aren't unhappy about your opinion of him, people are pissed because of the reason why you have that opinion, and then try to pass it off as something good because it comes from the bible. The bible isn't a good thing, especially since it teaches this sort of crap.

People who don't give respect, won't get it. I will not respect someone's beliefs if I feel they're wrong. I don't care if anybody respects mine.

I'm very excited, but saddened, to see his last performance as the Joker in the new film. Unfortunately we'll all have a heavy heart while we do watch it.

Sorry Shannon this stuff gets me fired up. Positive thoughts: He was awesome in the Patriot.

I am

if you dont like it in fiction you dont like it in real life and the only reason there is even an issue with gays today is because of that book and peoples narrow mindlessness. you might as well tell women to go back to the kitchen, put the Jews back into the death camps, and have black and Asians go back to the fields. Its the same thing! segregating people because of what they are or how they are is wrong. I heard earlier today that Westborrow Baptist Church is going to protest at his funeral because he played that part in Brokeback. HES NOT REALLY GAY!!!!!!!!!! So your telling me that we cant even play one in FICTION! and so what if he was, what is WRONG WITH THAT! because a book says it wrong?! why? what makes it wrong, if you can give me a reason other then i read it in this book that being gay or playing someone that is gay is wrong and evil then you can have an opinion about it. Till then you have no opinion, you read one!

This actor is dead. I dont care what he did or who he played, its a shame. thats what this thread is about. I cant believe that because he played a character in a movie that people are going to quote scripture against him and protest his funeral.

get with the program and see the big picture.

Sorry but like Super said. This is a subject that i take very seriously.

There are plenty more problems in this world to use all that energy you spend having issues with gay marriage, pro-choice clinics, stem-cell research, and science. We're all humans, put that silly book down and go talk to human people.

If we had a fraction of the people who protest worthless subjects that are frankly private things to individuals to protest and fight child abuse, animal abuse, deforestation, AIDs or any other REAL problem, they'd probably be solved.

Sit and think about how a guy in Brooklyn doused his dog in gasoline and set him on fire. Now think about how a great actor had the courage to take on a controversial role and what makes you more angry. If it's the latter, you should set yourself on fire.

But no more of this; really. Let this sink to the forum floor please. Very much gone off track and my blood pressure can't handle it.

More humans have died via abortion that than in all the wars combined. Worldwide approximately 46 million deaths per year, approximately 126,000 deaths per day. 1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (I.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).

Now i CANNOT believe you could sit down and honestly say this isn't a REAL problem. Its saddening that you even compare this to animal abuse. Animal abuse IS bad, but abortion issues are MUCH worse.

Agreed. thumbsdown.gif

Lets all remember Heath Ledger for whatever we want. Personally, i will always remember his amazing acting in "The Patriot" - and i'm sure he did another good job in TDK. RIP.

just got off work and getting back to me getting flamed for what i said. the point i was trying to make about the movie is the fact that yes, the man is NOT gay, and i understand that. but the movie he was in was promoting gays, that was the big uproar. and i'm not going to go back on the word of my Lord and Savior in that book, as it's being called. it's what i BELIEVE to be the complete truth. shun me for that all you will. i'm not trying to force my OPINIONS on anybody on here, was just stating mine. the man was an amazing actor, truly, but i don't agree with that movie, or the role he (and jake) played. that aside, i'm looking forward to seeing TDK. and i am saddened by his death, i'm saddened by anybody dying. super (or any of you for that matter), even though you may hate me now, if you died tonight, i would be saddened, to the point of how i would feel when a friend dies. most all of us are friends on here, i was not meaning to come off as a jerk or crass in any way. i should've kept my opinions to myself, and i'd go back and take that out of what i said in my first post, except it's been quoted a lot.

things of Christian nature, i'll keep to myself, or another thread can be started to bash me for my beliefs, and i'll do my best to defend myself and the word of God.

i apologize for any blood pressure raises or stiff fingers (from angry typing) that i may have caused.

--and if i seem to have not made sense here to you guys and girls, i make sense of it to me, and have a hard time putting stuff into words.

-GriffGirl - who said anything about masturbation? i'm happily married and have my wife here with me.

I'm pro-choice, not pro-abortion. I do not give a one month old fetus the same importance as an actual born human. You say 126,000 deaths per day, yet these are all unborn fetus's, not something that has thoughts, feelings and cognitive awareness. I will not give those deaths the same importance as say children who were born, and are killed via abuse, neglect or starvation. It's basically torture. It's just totally not the same to me.

I don't doubt Stetson that your an overall good human being, I just think your getting your morals in the wrong place. Instead of figuring things out for yourself, you just referring to an outdated and largely hypocritical handbook. That movie wasn't promoting homosexuality anymore than Die Hard 4 was promoting computer hacking or American History X promoting Naziism. I hope that in your heart you could realize that just because someone is born gay (it's not a choice) they aren't a good and decent person.

If we're going to continue talking about this; seems to be a monthly thing; please keep it nice-nice and resist personal attacks even though arguing with someone about these issues is very personal. Everyone's been pretty good so far I just don't want to see it get nasty like it has so many times before.

I absolutely don't agree with you. That's your opinion and we can/will agree to disagree.

If you don't care about he fetus, you have to think about the mother. Medical risks, side effect etc. The risk of breat cancer almost doubles. Researchers found that 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision. A major random study found that a minimum of 19% of post- abortion women suffer from diagnosable post-traumatic stress disorder.
