A SOFT CLUTCH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EXCESSIVE TIRE SPINNING.
Getting a stage 2 clutch will make it harder to start off without chirping your tires.

ok i wish i had this problem i can even get my tired to spic and cant figure out how i mean i do have an auto but u can usually go in reverse and put it into gear and spin them i cant on my celi haha i know this is soo bad for the tranny but its fun to hear the tires chirp but they dont spin

LOL.. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

But seriously back to thread...

ok so it seems to me like it is a driver error. From what i have read, i can simply agree with everyone in a sense. But if the problem does not seem to be any of what batman has said, than i would assume anything otherwise would be driver error. I can say from experienced driving with High end cards and average everyday cars, you control the spin of the tire if everything mechanically works properly. Regardless of soft clutch, you need to adjust and keep your feet controlled. Ive driven cars that have metal threads showing on a rainy day and still managed to not spin the tires. Just try and see if you can adjust to your clutch and maybe your problem might be solved.

my advise, don't press the gas pedal so hard.

Well said...so if you plan to turbo, you pretty much need to upgrade the clutch. Dustin knows what he is talking about.

How come when I said it I was a stodgy ole' grandma but when he said it he knows what he's talking about? kindasad.gif wink.gif

yah it does. But i had this argument last night and i stand by my logic that it will effect some one who is either use to a stiff clutch or is new to driving stick. Its not the only reason, but it shouldnt be over looked.

but whatever. Close her down

Yes, you're right, a soft clutch will have an affect on tire spinning. It will reduce it smile.gif . As for a new driver, I still remember going from a beater tercel with a worn clutch to a late-model corolla that, in comparison, had a stiff clutch. The corolla's clutch grabbed a lot harder and therefor was harder to keep from chirping.

Stating that a clutch is bad or worn out and is making the car peel out is wrong. If you had an old clutch the only thing that would be spinning is the clutch disk itself. It would not be able to hold the pressure of a fast acceleration from a stop.

If fact, stating that you can spin the wheels especially on a dry road surface means that you have a clutch that's in decent shape. Because, it can withstand the pressure of a spirited launch. Weak clutch means spinning clutch disk, not spinning tires.

There are simple ways to fix this problem.

Learn how to launch the car properly.
Buy new premium brand tires, with a high traction rating.
Update all your suspension components.

These three things will eliminate your wheel spin troubles.
