Jus saw in the news that madonna (madge) has topped the rich list for females with a whopping £38 million pounds ($60 million approx) made last year.... How can they justify making that much money?? Dont they ever just make enough??

It does my head in when people who have proper jobs, and work their ass off, never scratch at that kind of money

True this; Pro sport players just play games, and roll in millions of dollars a year. JUST FOR PLAYING GAMES!!

If i sat around my house playing games all day; all i'd get is evicted for not paying my rent frown.gif

but look how much money sports teams bring in every year, and there's your answer for why they get paid so much. Look how much we spend on tickets, food, merchandise...etc. Its ridiculous how much money these teams get.

People buying CD's and going to their show is where they make money from..if you can justify paying 80$ for a concert, you can't really talk about how they are overpaied..people like getting entertained.

Funny thing is they say pirating CD's and movie is "bad"..and it seems the stars have never been paied more money than now...ahww..poor guys frown.gif

This reminds me of the Southpark episode when they were downloading music illegaly and the FBI comes in and takes them to show how "stealing" music is affecting the artists' pay. Havn't seen it in a while, but I remember one example being like ".... was going to buy an island for his son, but because of people pirating his music, he can't afford it anymore" lol

Keep in mind that their living expenses are a lot higher then the average persons. Madonna probably employs a full staff of people. Everyone from a personal assistant to a house keeper. So its not like they just make all that loot and swim around in it. Shes still LOADED though. Good for her. Do what she did and you can have the same life style.

Good for Madge for making a **** load of money...she has worked very hard over the years to get to where she is/was, as do many of the ultra rich people, imagine doing concerts every other night or whatever they do, constantly for months on end, away from home etc and as crazy as it sounds I bet even that lifestyle wears a bit thin after a while, and all the charity work these people usually do etc etc, and you dont get money for nothing, somewhere along the line they had just as much money as us (unless they were born into money). The were just lucky or talented.

As for sports men and women they are only rich from demand from us, if we stopped watchin the games, buying the merchandise etc etc...they would soon be earning alot less.

Yeaa...but u could say that for every rich person. If we stopped goin to concerts, stopped buy cds, stopped watching movies, stopped watching TV shows, stop listening to the radio, stop goin to broadways...every celebrity who is rich, is rich because of us; so to just generalize athletes like that is just assanine. Everybody who is famous is rich is famous because of us.

I love how u make Madge into this glorified hard working person that made millions and millions on her own, whereas athletes got help from millions of fans. Football players especially is an all year sport...season runs from OTAs in mid-late spring and runs all the way to Feb. Same with baseball and basketball players and almost every other professional athlete out there.

f**k all those that don't matter...... doctors make good money, so i'm not saying anything for them, but teachers and military personell need to be making more money than they do.... I know with military they get a lot of benefits and housing/food/clothing allowances but they are doing a lot more with their lives than those acting, singing, or playing games are........ the system and who/how people get paid is ridiculous in this life, meh, not like it's ever gonna change though but eh, tell madonna and the other loaded ones to come buy some american goods and stimulate our economy, they can buy up half their own stockpile of cds, then sell em back to the record labels/stores(same deal with movies) then they will still get their money while stimulating our economy...... and at sporting events and concerts, give me more for my money, the more cotton you use on my shirts and more processed mystery meats you put in my nasty hot dog will give someone more money, therefore stimulating it and putting off everything sky rocketing in price for a few years..... enough ranting though..... good for madonna on makin that money, but does she really need a full staff and a huge azz house(s) if she's not fillin em up with kids that she adopted or turning one into a soup kitchen(funded by her, which can be gotten back on her tax returns if its here in the states) or helpin a few people down on their luck? If I was makin that kinda money i'd do less talkin about doing good for the earth/people and not just giving to charities, but actually get out there and help some people in person, would feel a lot better than just buying a new bently(which could be gotten when you file those american taxes) but meh just me

Yes celebrities make a lot of money, but in exchange they are basically selling their lives. They only make money and are "popular" if they live their life a certain way and uphold their image. If they actually go out and try to live a "normal" life, especially as a teen, then the media will won't leave them alone at all. It's a double edged sword, you get money for losing your freedom.

i disagree to a point lagos, these folk who have millions in the bank, seem to get soooo much stuff for free. havent you guys seen brewsters millions??? he gets given money since he has so much... they get so many freebees its unreal.

In the same poll of rich women, mariah carey made $20 million or something like that... it was only a year or two ago that she was DROPPED from her record company for lack of sales..... how the heck can she still make so much, she only released. "All i want for christmas"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that says it all right there.
