so if the front bumper is universal and sides are too then does that mean that the fenders are aswell? just asking because i might pick up a fender soon

No. The fenders are not universal.

The convertable takes a different fender than the coupe / hatchback models. All Z3 fenders and ect. are made for the coupe / hatchback. (and if you find otherwise, then its very rare. I've never seen any.)

Thank you nik. But hernandez is right, if you want to sell something, the FS is the place to be. However; PM Sent.

From everything I've read this statement is untrue. The rear on the verts/coupes is diff than the hatch but the front is the same including the fenders [1/4 panels].
This from reading and observation - I could be wrong and if I am will someone please point out the differences with pics?

Yes it is. Andysautosport sells entire kits for about $35 more than your paying for just the bumper.

However that's what this discusion is all about. Remember that this kit wont just "bolt on" And the cheaper the kit, the more fabrication you will have to do to fit it on. But would it be worth it? I think yes.

Or for closer to 1000 dollars you could get one that may require no fiberglass work at all. It depends on how much you spend. This and the reasons behind it is all covered in the sticky.

death, this is why it took me 3 months to find a fender for my car. (you've seen the white one) because the vert dosent go as high. We can compare later and take pics of yours and mine.

but if your right, Man, i'm gunna be pissed for spending all the extra money~ rolleyes.gif

Dust cover?

Yeah, i gotta do some food shopping this sat. myself; but seeing as you have a GOOD digital camera, we'll use yours to photo the fenders and eliminate all doubt or questions for the sake of thread. I'll pm you about it timing.

Also, i'm not sure if the side skirts are the same or not. I've heard that they are, I've heard that the converts are less C shaped on the bottom than the hatches. I know you can mold anything to fit anywhere, it just takes a bit of know-how, and a crapload of fiberglass laugh.gif but it's true~

the stock vert side skirts like yours are straight [at least the ones I've seen like your for example]. The stock hatch sideskirts are that "c" shape your talking about. Whether or not they are interchangeable IDK. They are certainly the same length but I don't know if the mounting holes are in the same place or not.

Dust cover = the Brake part you bent behind the rotor that you said you need to fix remember? Are you drinking at work again?

ONLY ON MY BREAKS!! (so what if i take a lot... JK)

oh yeah, I think i got it mostly fixed up.... i poked at it, and it's not scraping anymore, but i havnt try any dime turns sense i whacked it.

as for the mounting holes, There spaced identical i think. I remember i did mine, then the next day i was at your house, helping do yours; And they looked the same to me. (mounting) i think there is some shape differential, that dont line up. I dunno, let's f- with it and find out on sat.

no; it's cool. I dont care.

And if anyone is off topic on my lil thread it's me and death making bets on who is right. lol. Forgive us, us Houston members have a meet this sat, and it gets pretty competitive when we've spent as much money as we have. lol. well, competitive with a smile (and a pitcher, WOOT!!)

But on topic, Yeah, I'm trying to get my hands on a broken body kit, (for 30 bucks) to repair and resell. And to see how it indeed attaches. it's an invader kit off a wrecked car. the kit itself is in one solid peice (mostly), and i do fiberglass work, so that's goiong to be fine, but it'd be a learning opertunity for me and theese new (new to me) celicas and how their aftermarket counterparts do.

It's just getting this member online. She's being a pain in my hassle. (that person with your crash bar, death)

But importantly, i want to know the level of mod required, so that i can get my blitz kit. That was the theme of this whole thread. lol.

EDIT:(like i ever stay on topic laugh.gif )

i don't agree - I think it made perfect sense for you to post it here. It was short, simple and quite on topic. Why others feel they have to stick their nose in other people's conversations and throw the rules at them like that I have no idea. I get the feeling some people are attn seekers and approval seekers from the mods.
Kiss asses in other words.

D-man, I installed a veilside full kit on a hatch, the biggest prob was the rear bumper.

Where the kit and the rear fender meet I had to trim some off the top of the kit because it was wavy from extra jell coat or fiber, (wasnt sure) but the top of the kit was like a half T or upside down L and screws went up into the rear fender stock holes.

I had trouble also with sucking the bumper in to meet the fenders right behind the back wheels.

The kit when bolted up it stuck out from the body, luckily some sanding fixed that.

When finished the only thing I didnt like was that there was a gap between the taillights and the bumper, It looked like the tails needed to move down.

But, overall very satisfied.

Do you have a pic of this Bootslimo? From what i can imagine of your description, it sounds like a reform is in order for the top parts hanging away from the body of your car. You can do this by heating the skirt, and folding/bending it into place. Alot of pro's do it by hand, but i've seen people do it by holding it to the body and heating the kit that way. It's best if done before painting. This can be done with a heating lamp, or a hairdryer. Sounds crazy, but i've seen great work from a hair dryer. lol. You just have to make sure you dont burn it. lol.

I prefer a heating lamp, bc you have your hands free to hold and mold to the car itself. All cars start the same, but over time the panels shift just a little tiny bit. I am a firm believer that the only way to ensure a proper fit is to use the car itself as its own mold. Then by removing it, and exaggerating a key bend to ensure that it holds tight.but that's me.

You were 100% right for sanding it down where need be, that was probably resin for leeway. On some kits, during production, they use a sheet of plastic between the mold and the kit that's being molded, the first layer is always plain resin for those purposes. some kits are composed of solid resin, that's how they maintain those very flexible profiles. It is good to have a fairly flexible kit, but it is also a bad thing at the same time. They have their advantages and disadvantages. Remember Terminator 2? the T1000 had advantages, but was ultimately weaker (hand to hand) than Swartzanager's Terminator. Same idea, different medium.

I'd love to see a pic of this, because id be much more able to help you to perfect this. And i'd love to see a current pic of your car. BTW, the neons look fantasterific! biggrin.gif

The car was sold, but i still have pics, the rear mudflaps ended up holding the body kit in, never seen a prob with cracking even after paint.
