Alright so I was going to put my apexi N1 black muffler on when my swap was finished but.... that friggen expensive muffler got stolen by the dude who was doing my swap.... long story.. (he stole my apexi bov too)... Any way what muffler should I get... I am somewhat leaning towards the greddy SP2 muffler cuz Im starting to like the "stock" looking SP2.... Let me know what you would recomend for a muffler for my 3s swap what do you swap guys use and what would you recommend and why???

custom 3in piping. as for mufflers. magnaflows are a cheap and reliable well sounding choice. other than that i would go with the SP2. im not a fan of the tip ( i'd prefer my sp1)

Depends on your power needs. If you want to keep it around or below 300whop, go with 2.5'' piping. If you want big power, you'll need 3''. You'll need a downpipe, and you will want a muffler with an inlet that matches your exhaust piping.

And I can't believe the guy you HIRED to do something, stole things from you, how does one get away with that? Low down dirty shame right there.

Man we really should do something about that shop Matt - like let everyone on HI know how crooked they are or the BBB or both.
How soon do you need it Matt? I've been considering loosing the SP2 in favor of something else [not sure what but I'm not a huge fan of the traditional muffler looking exhausts on a swapped car]. If the price was right I could def be unassed to trade out. Maybe I pick out the muffler and if the deal sounds right to you, you buy and we trade? Why wouldn't you want the whole catback tho [Altho that works for me either way]?

To answer you and DEATHs questions in the same post it goes as follows.

Supersprynt:

I am planning on getting a berk DP and although I dont make but about 250$ a week, I am really good at saving my money so money is not an issue on my exhaust.... I would buy the greddy full catback for the 94-99 celica but will it fit with the swap or will it need a bit of modding? I probably will go 3 in though but I am concerned for my emissions testing at the moment.... I have cat back 2.5in to an ebay 5zigen knockoff muffler right now from my 7a setup.... I was wanting the Apexi N1 like I had but at the same time I might want that clean semi stock looking SP2.... As far as the guy I hired to do my work stealing from me.... 1st off I will never release his name or the company he owned... Doing my swap put him out of business. He took a job that he "said" he could do... It took more time and effort than he though. He did not manage his priorities correctly and without completing my swap he never recovered my payment. However, I did purchase a set of lightweight Kosei K1 rims with G-force T/A drag radials on them that he never gave me either. So all that he kept was the Rims/tires, N1 muffler, Apexi bov.... Yeah I took it hard on that. Here is the story.

When hurricane Rita came through houston, he said his shop was in a low level area and was afraid that it would flood. He said tow the car out and I can bring it back after the water goes down. Well I had it towed out and brought to the Honda dealer I worked for. Well I never got a chance to look at it because we were getting all the cars ready at the high point of the dealership grouped together for if we flooded. Mine was the first in at the highest point (gotta keep the celica from flooding before the hondas haha) Well consequently it got boxed in... We didnt move all the cars away for about 2 weeks. By this time cleaning debris from the dealership and cleaning all the cars was first priority. So it wasnt for about a month that I realized they were missing. I tried calling the guy and the shop had shut its doors. His cell was disconnected and the whole bit. I do NOT want to say the name of the company who screwed me. I do NOT want to say the guys name. I do NOT want to take it up with the BBB... I want to let the past die and not piss off the guy to where something bad may happen to my celica when its finished. I dont want resentment from the guy. I wish him the best of luck in whatever he wants to do in life. I wish him all the best prosperity and I wish the best for his family. I just hope I never see him again.

Now it is at a GREAT shop in Houston. This dude is awesome. He has a friggen turbo the size of a basketball on his 6 second civic hatch. When I went in for the first time to roll the car in I was like where should we put it. He was like well for right now lets roll it next to the skyline. I went to look at my car the other day and the engine was out next to a (b20 w/b16 head), (sr20 turbo), (2 Rb26 turbos) and a new corvette engine that is going into a supra. I think I am in good hands right now.

DEATH:

To answer your questions. I may buy yours if you go to let it go. Keep looking for one you may like. I just want mine semi quiet and low profile for the time being. I dont want anything extravagant right now. I havent driven the car in 3 years.... I just want my baby back. You know me better than anyone on this site. You know how I cared for my celica before all this crap happened. As far as time goes.... Tweak said he should be getting to my harness this week.... So its definately going to be about another month before I "need" the muffler.... I have a muffler on there so I am not hurting for one by anymeans.

I really dont understand how anyone can recommend the 2.3in greddy sp on a turbo car.
Besides it being small, youll still need to pay an exhaust shop to make a midpipe for you.

This is true [and it answers your question for you Matt] but it does seem to do well on my car at low boost which I assume Matt will be running for a little while. It is very quiet, yet throaty, and a very nice, ultra low rice design. Mine has a really nice resonator on it too [pretty sure that's stock but IDK]. You will have to have a midpipe made to go between your downpipe and the catback, this is where I plan to mount my Magnaflow High Flow Cat.
My goals are probably pretty different from every other swapper - I want about 275WHP/300WTq with an electronic boost controller to get me to 300WHP with a little more boost when I need it and that's about it. I want this car to remain very streetable in all weather conditions. i don't intend to daily drive her but I'm not tryig to strip out the interior and put her on slicks either. I think the 2.5" piping will be fine for my short term goal of 250WHP with the corresponding WTq - please correct me if I'm wrong Lagos [you are one of the Pioneers after all].
Don't even get me started on the looks of the car - I'm extremely contrary to the popular opinions when it comes to that. rolleyes.gif

Got any good pics of that SP1? The ones in your profile don't show much. Under the car shot would be killer.

I had an sp1 on my car for about a year after my swap. It worked, but hurt performance in major way compared to my 3in exhaust.

If he has a 2.5in on there now, just keep that and have a mid pipe made, or go all out to a 3in. It would be silly to spend money 3-500bucks (with midpipe) to downgrade to a 2.3in greddy.

my metric system says error when I plug those numbers in.

The way I look at it is, it's all about what you want out of the car, in my case " IF " I have a 3S on my celi, I would leave my Greddy SP2 in place, why ? well, right now I have a 7AFE that is not really a healthy engine, going from ~ 90-100 Hp to 200 + for me is great, I don't need to squeeze every little HP out of the engine at the cost of a louder exhaust, there is nothing wrong with you guys who do that, as said, it's all about taste.

Now for Matt, since you already have 2.5 piping in place, the best is just to work with it, and save some bucks, 2.5 will have better flow than a 2.3 " greddy as said before.

well that depends on the 2.5" exhaust too but yeah in general that's true.

i would do 3" turbo back for 1 reason.
its cheaper to do it once.
pick your muffler, be it a stockish looking one, or whatever it may be, a resonator if you want it a bit quieter, and a cat if need one to pass emmisions.
have a shop weld it up, and be done with it.

Well I appreciate what everyone is saying.... I will go 3 inch one day... right now I am worried about passing emissions mostly... Point of the matter is... and you will all laugh when I say this but. I want 2 exhausts... I want one to pass emissions. And one for the rest of the time. DEATH... I will probably buy your SP2 if you plan on letting it go.. that would probably be easiest since I only want the muffler. I guess then I am looking for something like an N1 again then yeah? What would you guys recommend for a stock-ish looking TURBO muffler for a 3in exhaust. I want something mellow. I want to have an amazing 3s swap and have it clean as hell and have an all around well respected celica. I want my 3s celica to give the 3sgte and the celica's a good name. I dont want people to see it and think my exhaust is obnoxious. What muffler would you get with a full turbo back 3in.
