This is from my experience first time too: The passenger side is easier to pull. Once you remove the outer end from the rotor(hub), there is 3 bolts that secure the center of axle to the engine, remove those and just pull the axle out. Now, the driver side is similar but more difficult because there is a snap ring that holds the axle in. I used a pry bar and a rubber mallet to hammer it out just like the youtube video. Just be careful and stay clear of the cv boots so you don't break them.
Also its easier to pull away the tranny and also push it back in when it is horizontally aligned. You might need a transmission jack to ease removal especially when putting it back it or you can use a decent jack with necessary straps/supports. Just be patient you will get it. Its by far the hardest thing I have ever done on a car. G/L. -------------------- 3sgteing.

pass. side has NO snap ring that's why its easier.
easy........take out battery take out anything that's in the way or attached to the tranny. (i.e. starter, intake tubing, cruise control motor........etc.) take out hubs........ take off the 3 bolts--well its 1 bolt and 2 nuts that hold the hub to the control arm take off tie rod CAREFULLY dont turn it or you'll screw up your alignment take off 2 bolts on the shocks to free off the hub. oh also the nut holding the axle to the spindel thingy. stuff like that. its best to go find someone who can walk you through it in person. -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

the pass side should just slide right out. after you pull all the bolts that is.
the drivers side is a bitch! both times Ive had to pull them from my engine swaps I have had issues. Heres what worked for me.... get under the car with a pry bar, wedge it in to the little grooves on the axle (be careful not to damage the ring near the tranny). have someone else pull on the axle while you hammer the **** out of the and of the pry bar. It takes a bit of work, but if you do it right, the person pulling on the axle should deepthroat the end of it when it finally pops loose. make sure you are ready to catch some tranny fluid when ur pulling these guys out (can't remember which side, but one of them is dry, the other isn't, if someone can help me with this) GL! -------------------- ![]() The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed? |
