Ok, we are looking for paint ideas...
http://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0127080958dl1.jpg

thats what it looks like as of now, and i'm helping my friend look for ideas... what would be perfect for a vert celica?

something of a solid color now... and maybe doing some kinda racing stripes made of vinyl later... how about something like a pearl white... with the black top, either white or black wheels... but we have no idea what that would look like.

a guide to proper paint shemes.

#1 since celica is not a truck 2 paint scheme does not work if its split in the middle horisontally. What you need is something like
http://www.6gc.net/members/exquizitcelica

#2 if you do consider a 2 color paint scheme best way to go is a diagonal paint job like this:
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...80&hl=rally

#3 most people here have a phobia of exterior customization and not that many have paint jobs that are not solid something.

#4 a 2 paint scheme with entire shibang will cost you about 5 grand if you do decide to repaint car with a different color. Door jams and all other things inclusive.

#5 KISS. keep it simple stupid. If you want racing stripes its best to use vinyl because its sheaper. If you do want a fancy paint job do it in 2 stages. #1 being planning and #2 being execution.

#5. Please please please do not use non matching colors. ie if you use black and purple it will look like crap regardless of how much time and money invested. if colors are in the same darks/lights group it will not look good. If you make a "blend" transition between colors it will look silly because you dont have enough surface to make transition look right. Best way is to separate it with a solid line.

#6 for car shows etc. you need to use toxic and or cayenne colors. They look fantabulous. Solid colors look great too but they dont have the same kick to it.

yarik83 sumed it up pretty well.

i'm a fan of solid color with black trim. You can use ANY color of the rainbow and make all your trim black and it'll look as good as possible based on the solid color you chose.

now if you wanna go all crazy, then start with a pen; a paper; and sketch that schett out first; otherwise you're going to imagine one thing, and pay for another kindasad.gif

just a quicky, looks like crap. i imagine if you do this somewhat correctly it could turn out ok. purple/blue color is a pearlescent color in my mind, and the black is a slight metallic. a painter im sure could do something to make it look better. play around in the need for speed games like nfs carbon with the vinyls to get good paint ideas

I agree...cars should only be painted a solid color...trucks/suv's are the only vehicles that look ok with a contrasting two-tone.

-Another color idea is a pearl white. I think pearl white looks good on any car.

lol, the first pic in that profile is a classic!!

car looks pretty nice too - although what about having the split down the water-runs on the roof and the corresponding lines on the bonnet/boot?

hes thinking of doing a solid color... white popped into mind, but he wants a white when certain lights hit it, you can see a hint of another color in there... thinking of something like a blue
