Some of you may know that my pistons rings took a crap on me and now I am in the process of tearing my motor down to get it built for more boost. I am only looking to do 15 psi as my daily driver, but I am also on a tight budget. I am planning on doing the build myself and was just wondering on what "HAS" to be done to achieve my goal of about 250 whp.
I just got a hold of 3s rods. I will take my crank to the machine shop to get it turned down to accept the rods, but what pistons can I use? Do I HAVE to get some sort of forged pistons to be able to boost 15 psi? Or can I just stick with the factory pistons with the forged factory 3s rods? Now with the head and I am getting the head rebuilt with the cams regrind by Colt cams. And I will for sure upgrade my fuel management. Why spend all this money on a build without upgrading the fuel management and timing. So I will for sure pick up the emanage ultimate. My main concerns right now really is the pistons. Can I get away with stock pistons with upgraded pistons rings? Or am I better off spending an additional 600 for forged pistons? If the crappy weather goes away, I will start tearing down the motor and this will be updated, BUT you guys will have to answer my questions first lol.... -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer
