Last minute decisions don't end up too good. I'd rock the RSX.

Honestly, not even a last min decision. I was thinkin about EP3s when i was thinkin about RSXs, but they are few and far between up here. So maybe 2 weekends ago i went out and took a look at this nicely priced base model RSX, took it for a test drive, liked it, came back and it was sold. So i went home and found there was a dealership about 10 min away from my house with an 04 EP3 for around the same price as the RSX i was looking at..so i went up and took a look at it since i had never driven an EP3. within 2 min of being behind the wheel, i liked it 10000% more then the RSX. The RSX has leather witch sucks for taking corners cuz you slide, its got a tiny ass backseat, not too much headroom, not the biggest trunk, and oversteers like a mofo. I took the SIR out, drove wayyyy better, tons more space, tons more little storage pockets, same motor, same tranny, seats were more comfortable and you dont slide all over the place in them, tons more trunk and back seat room.

The one i was looking at originaly got sold the day i was gonna go leave a deposit on it, but then i found this one a day later for a way better price with exactly what i wanted on the car, with wayy less KM on it, in better condition, with all the stock parts too. It was far from a last min decision.

one of the dealers in town where I'm at had an EP3 for sale, so I went and took it for a spin to kill some time. It was terrible. It was slow in accelleration, tons of body roll, and overall was just very unappealing.

well i guess now we can call it official.

Sad you had to take this route. But whatever you choose, it will be all right. As long as you dont have regrets 6 months down the road, dont look back. And if you do, plenty of them on auto trader, but they are getting more expensive... IDKW

no car, will ever be the celi. No matter what. I have not seen or driven a car like it. Im not talking about the great performance or the confort, the speeds or even the looks.

Its the feeling, the look on other peoples eye's like WTF is that car, the sinister grins on all the other guys in the stop lights growling their engines trying to stand out when you sit next to them. And worst when you ignore them.

If i wanted a faster car, sure i would have traded it already. But there is something about those 2 tons of steels that makes my wife jealous and my dog growl at me, when im doing something to it... biggrin.gif that makes me keep it. Heck my wife told me if i ever die, she will keep it, because it will always remember her about me.

Cheers!

lol you guys^^^... anyway, this is why I love this site too much, the member's passion for the celica.
Bryan, congrats on your new acquisition. Hope it turns out better than your celica. I know, you will make that car better in preformance and handling just like you took care of your celica. Hope to see you soon with the new ride buddy.

I decided on a set of Maxxim Airs in what they call Carbon..but its semi gloss black. They are only 15s, but are lightweight and made by Konig, so they are good quality. I think they only weigh somethin like 14 or 15lbs each, not much, so it should be nice. Im gonna get my buddy who does vynals to try and make me some flatblack and red honda H logos for the center caps to make em match a bit better. Eventually i wanna get somethin like the red lips, like you did on your wheels.

Im kinda disapointed in some of the repsonses ive gotten from alot of the other 6gc members. Like the frist response i felt kinda taken back by. "Oh, its one of thouse SIs i dont like"...if you dont like it, then please, just keep it to your self. Yes i asked for opinions on the car, but you could just leave it as "i dont like it as much as the celica" or "i dont like it"

Yea i do know its not as sleek as the celica, and yea it doesnt have the same lower end torque as the celica, but it does produce more HP then the celica does, and for the weight of the car it does move pretty good. As for the comment left by 95celicaST, maybe the one you took out was in need of some work, because this car has only springs and camber kits done and it has limited body roll and accelerates pretty good. Even a bone stock 04 with more miles i took out for a rip handeled good out of the bag. And i mean, common, your saying it accelerated slower then an ST?? I dont think any thing is slower in accelration than an ST.

I do admit, i am kinda hating givin up the celica, but its time for me to get somethin that i can actually drive. My celica is great, when stuff isnt breaking. Like in the last month alone i need the fallowing work done...New brake lines front to rear, new gas lines front to rear, new ball joints (both sides), new outter tie rods (both sides), new drivers side strut cartidge, new passangerside shock mount, new rear strut rod bushings.

And gettin parts for the celica is easy at times yes, but i mean..im going on 10 months now waiting for my strut rod bushings to come in from Japan, and thats not by some cheap ebay company...this is by Toyotaworld too, one of the best toyota dealerships in the U.S.

I honestly considered buyin a newer celica, but with all the hassel i found trying to get parts for my celica, i wanted somethin that i knew would be reliable, somethin that i knew would last me, and somethin i knew would be cheap to maintaine and get parts for. I mean common, how many honda owners have you ever met who complain about not being able to find a part for their car?? Even hard to find JDM parts are easy to find compaired to stuff for our cars. Like i know 5 suppliers of real Mugen stuff in Toronto, and yet i dont know of 2 companies within ontario that would sell stuff like j-speed or c-one. Yes there are tons of honda out there, and yes there are millions of civic out there, but an EP3 like this is pretty rare up here.

Oh I wasn't comparing it to a Celica... I was comparing it to my Rex tongue.gif

It is very possible that there was something wrong. I didn't even notice if/when vtec kicked in.

And don't get me wrong, they are very nice looking cars. I think the EP3 was the last good body style.

compairing an ep3 to a rex is like compairing a st to a gt4..lol..theres no compairision. Obviously a wrx is gonna be way faster, you have what?..230hp on boost?..i have 160hp at the crank?

Any ways, so my wheels are in for it, and some of my parts are in too. Im pickin the car up tonight at like..10:30 or somethin, so there might be a picture or 2 up here tonight, but i will be posting a few more tomorrow when i get the new wheels on and some of my other goodies.

Skunk2 resivoir covers

I likey. Altough i'm not a fan of how the 5spd shifter is set up. I guess i'd have to get used to it.

Honestly, it drives exactly like any other 5spd. Its just instead of reachin down, you reach forwards a bit. You get used to it within a min of driving.
