In the last little while, Ive had it with my celica. I was on my last straw for awhile with it, but these last 2 weeks, im past it. In the last 2 weeks ive found out i need new ball joints, tierods, drivers side strut, strut mounts, strut rod bushings, front wheelbearings, 1 rear wheel bearing and on top of that the other day i blew a brake line. Not a flex line, but a hard line..like coming from the perposioning valve down and too the rear. So, ive been thinkin about it for awhile, and im done. I have all the parts i need to fix it except my strutrod bushings that ive been waiting on for the last 9 months from Toyotaworld. Apparently they are on the way from Texas right now, but then agian, they have been on their way for almost 2 weeks now.
Any ways, once the cars fixed, Im gonna be doing some minor rust repair on it, cleanin up the interior a bit, repainting my shifter surround and radio surround. Any ways once Im done, its going up for sale. Im gonna post it in the trader and on Kijiji and Craigslist. Any ways, I hate to say it, but im considering going over to the dark side. I was considering gettin a WRX, but ive heard alot of horror stories about them and the cheapest WRX i can find 5spd is like $14K CND with almost 200xxxKM on it. So im also considering gettin a RSX. Ive seen them for anywhere between $8K and $12500, the price difference is between either a 5spd permium package base model and a Type-S. Im thinking im gonna go with a base model just because its cheaper and i can still make it pretty quick. My plan is to get one in black on black, JDM Honda badges, JDM blackhousing headlights, Type-R spoiler, redded out tails, Type-S side skirts, replica mugen lips, tinted windows, black rims with a red lip. Normaly, i would say no to Honda, but I like the sound of K20A motor. Bigger Honda motors dont have that anoying misquito sound coming from the exhaust. Even though i wont be owning a celica any more, i will be envolved with the 6GC comunity after the fact. Im still going to be building Sarah's coupe (Keroppi), and helping out any of the Ontario 6GC members with their cars. So Ill still be around, still keeping active in the 6GC community. I will update this thread when i sell Shelly, and get my new car. This car club was the first car club and community ive ever been apart of, so I am definatly going to be around. The only horror stories I've heard are the 02 WRX transmissions are crap. That is why you don't get the 02. My 03 has the RA spec gears and is just built better overall than the 02. Must be the supply and demand up there, but I got my 2003 WRX for $14,100 out the door with 56K miles on it. It's a 5sp, but it's a wagon (what is the downside? I don't know). It was a great buy. Unlike the Celica it responds well to modifications... plus the awesome boxer rumble
Then again, the RSX can run ITB's. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

black
silver theres 2 around me. most people take good care of their cars and id trust those dealers. black has some mods on it, silver is bone stock i think you should rock the awd. you get a bit longer snow weather, plus general day to day usage im sure a wrx will suit you alot better than another 2 door. -------------------- you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!

Personally I know this is blasphemous but I think the RSX is a nice ass car.
If it were me though, I'd get a tC. In fact I think my next car will be a tC. Toyotas and Hondas are about equal in reliability, but Toyota parts are a little less expensive. That makes them better in my book! -------------------- ![]() |

I know we all love our Celicas, but the truth is that there are better cars out there.
If your going to upgrade, get the wrx. Its got a lot of potential and a huge after market support. The rsx is also a nice car, but really lacks torque and transmission failures are also very common. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I'm going ot tell you the truth about the WRX, being on NASIOC. ALL transmission of all year have failure..the only exception? The STI's. And it's known that the failure are only due to poor shifting. But I know the fears! The WRX is generally seen as a very reliable car versus evo's and SRT-4's, 350z, rx-8, etc...
I got my Canadian stock WRX for 14 999$ from a private sale with 131 000 KM, a deal? I think so! And for for same reason, my 6th gen was falling apart (I blame the winters...), my rear brake line busted and it was the icing on the cake. The key with WRX's is the previous owners. If you get the RSX, you might regret getting the base, but they are nice car..my friend has one and they look bad-ass. Good luck in your endeavor hehe -------------------- ![]() -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

I dont mind the lack of torque compaired to a celica. Our cars are just lower end torque beasts, but its alright. There is less of an aftermarket support of the RSX than the WRX, but thats fine by me. For what i wanna do to the car, i can get all JDM parts easily and w/e else i can get from my work. As for the tranny issues on a RSX, ive never heard of any one saying there is any. never the less, if i do end up gettin any issues, my buddy Mayo, whos like a honda god, has tons of spare honda parts laying around in his wearhouse and can get me a new tranny and install it for $500. Good luck in your endeavor hehe If i do get this car, it will only be a summer car, no snow in it. I dont want any thing to rott out on it. The cheapest private seller scoob ive found so far is a guy who wanted $15K for one with a bunch of prodrive goodies. But the thing is, i dont have $15K. Im looking to buy somethin for $13 at most. I have found a pretty decent looking Type-S at a repo place near my house. They want $10500 for it, 124xxxkm on it, stock Type-S sides, some ugly 17s, Mugen style spoiler, lowered, crappy axel back exhaust, and the guy had a after market radio in it, so if i pick it up, im gonna get rid of the mugen spoiler, put in a new deck, get some better wheels, and abetter exhaust. The thing about the base model is, I really dont mind it having less HP, im not trying to make some rediculusly fast beast out of it, well at least not yet. So im thinkin if i get the base model, ill keep it running N/A and good looking for awhile, and then if i realy want some more HP, ill get the Greddy turbo kit for it. |

Bummer you can't get a tC up there, I didn't know that. Maybe (probably) in time though, huh? I really love my Celica, but I look forward to getting my tC in a couple of years' time. (Seems like I can't keep a car more than 2 or 3 years, I get bored or something!)
Best of luck whatever you do go with though, I'm sure it'll be something excellent. -------------------- ![]() |

To me neither the celica (NA) or the rsx has any torque at all. ![]() RSX is still a cool car though, but if it were me, I would go with a factory turbo car because of how easy it is to make power with them. the other reason im gonna b going for the base model is i can run 87 octane in it with no issues and considering gas prices are gettin up to $1.20/L right now, and are expected to hit $1.50/L, i cant go wrong. Yea it wont make as much power, and yea i wont get the 6spd, but its alright. If/when gas prices go down again, it might be time for me to turbo.
But yea, i think your POV on torque is a little twisted Art. When you got as much power in your car as you do, you think every thing is slower. Its like going from like an STI to a wrx, the power is still there in the wrx, but no where near as much as an STI. |

have you looked into is300's? I've been watching them and they're starting to fall a little bit in price now that the 250 and 350 are out. They come in a stick, 4 doors, look good, and are still toyota.

i have, but pricing for them up here is nuts. Cheapest ive found is around $15K, and that was for an auto. Cheapest stick one ive seen is $22K. Im not really looking for somethin in that sort of price range. I wanna get somethin for around $13K and under.

is300's are quite rare in stick, and hence expensive if found, and Rayme, i'm totally with you on the bike idea to get around in the summer

yea i saw one at the TD bank on Dougal across from Burger King running ontario plates. But according to the RIV they arent legal to import. Plus i couldnt even imaging gettin any parts for them up here aswell as the insurance prices for em. Plus, i personaly dont like the look of them all that much.

if you must sell i wouldn't hold it against you if you got an RSX. i think they are pretty sweet for a honda. i like the earlier year models better personally. the goofy headlights kinda grew on me LOL.
as for getting an IS, i wouldn't. i almost did but it's just not worth it. they just don't put down the power that you would expect from a supra motor. either way good luck on your endeavor. ![]() -------------------- |
