Hi i installed a Sony Xplod head unit on my 95 celica sx and now only my rear right hand side speaker works. I bought an adapter for the celica and for the Xplod and it clicks perfectly together. I hooked up the antanna too. When i first installed it none of the speakers worked and then a couple of hours later i turned on the car and the rear right hand side works. The head unit works fine though, all the settings, mp3 playing, etc works fine except for when i turn it on it says "failure" on the Xplod head unit but then it plays music and radio fine, except for it only plays it through the rear right speaker. I'm not good when it comes to electrical stuff, especially around a car, so i was hopeing to get some helpful insight from some of u guys? any ideas on why it isn't working? thanks....

First thing I would check is the wiring on the wire harness. Did you use any couplers or anything? Idk if that's what they're called for wiring but oh well? Or did you just twist em together and leave em in the open? If that's the case some wires could have touched together and that could make it not play out of certain speakers. . I'd just check the wiring first

If it says 'Failure' when you turn it on that's probably going to be an issue relating to the headunit rather than anything else. If possible, try the original unit again and if all the speakers work then you've found your problem tbh.
bseaman - if he's using a pair of wiring harness adaptors like it sounds like he is, there won't be any exposed wires anywhere unless they've been cut open by mistake, and that's very not likely: ![]() I soldered it all up by hand when I did mine, but when doing my mum's car i spent the $10 and got the harnesses, saves so much time ![]() This post has been edited by MercuryFree: May 20, 2008 - 11:26 PM -------------------- |

no, if it clicked together perfectly, then he has bypassed the amp.
I'd check your wiring first, you could have grounded out. (did you use butt connectors, or atleast some kind of a connector, or twist wire + electral tape?) twist wire + tape = BAD!! ![]() also, if your head unit is saying failure ![]() I'd check the wiring again, then if it's good, then trash that head unit. (unless you wanna take it apart and look for damage on the circut board. get your iron out and re-saulder any broken lines) (i have no idea how to spell saulder and dont have spell check, sorry ![]() ![]() Good luck. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! Hey yeah thanks for all your input. They might be some exposed wires cos the dealer i got the car off done some pretty dodgy work to connect the old head unit i had. And yeah i didn't have an amp but i had a cd stacker under the passenger seat but i took that off. But yeah i guess it is the wiring. when i get some spare time i'll try it out again and post back my progress. thanks guys...
