Yesterday I decided to go for a drive since it was such a nice day. I was out driving around for about an hour and a half and was heading back to my house. It seemed a little sluggish on the way home. About three miles from my house, I was coming off the interstate, rolling out from the stop, around 4000rpms, the engine start to shake and it sounded as if the blow off valve was open. I was unable to get more than about 3psi on my gauge. The rest of the way I kept it around 2000rpms and didn't build any boost. Car seemed to run normal. About a half mile from my house I heard a noise from the passeger side that almost sounded like something rubbing on the tire, it was there for about 15 seconds then went away. I pulled into my garage and the car was idling around 500rpms for about two minuets, then died. I was able to start it up again, but it stayed around 1000 for about 15 seconds then dropped to around 500 and again died.
I am hoping it is just a boost leak and will be getting parts together tomorrow to build a tester. I haven't expirenced a boost leak yet and was wondering if these are normal symtoms or if there might be something else that might have cuased the engine to shaked or the noises I heard. Are there other things I should look at on top of ckecking for boost leak? Thanks, Mike. -------------------- ![]() |
