i hook the timing light up to #1 snd when i increace speed to 2500k the timing light on ly flashes every now and then and not in any pattern...i was just woundering if thats normal is the distributor working right r is the timing light just not good enugh to keep up with the speed?

well its very rare for the celica engine to spin up to 2,500,000 rpm and it would make sense for the timing light to catch that.


you should only be doing the ignition timing at idle, and when you rev your engine up it could be tripping your timing light.

But if you don't get a clear reading at idle, then your timing light is broken.

Don't you also need to put it into diagnostics mode? Not sure if this matters or not but I know when you adjust the timing this is something that needs to happen...

im just clocking the rpms as the instructions say to not time adj. ......and opps i mean 2.5k the instructions say bring the idle up to 2.5k i do but the timing light does not read right then...but my idle is at 900 and it reads fine then
