 lube for short shifter, lithium, petroleum or something else? |

I'm just about to assemble my new short shifter into its plastic housing. What type of grease should I use and will either lithium or petroleum grease damage the plastics or the rubbery bit? (I'm not sure it is real rubber, looks like a synthetic).
