I was a little bored the other day and decided to go take a few test drives. I got to test drive the new evo VIII. OMG!!!
 It was sooooo much fun....i think i scared the dealer guy sh**less! Then i got to wondering...I know that the EVo has around 270 hp and the gt-4 has 250...Has anyone test driven both of them, and if so are they anything alike?p.s. there is nothing like going 0-60 in 5 sec!!

Go test drive the new WRX Sti...I think they look 10X better and trust Subaru 200X more than MitsuBITCHY. Anyways, thats awesome, but seriously, test drive the WRX and then give us your own synopsis on which is better since they obviously are competitors in the Turbo'd AWD war. I wish Toyota came back into that war with a GT-4 return of the Celica, but the new model is super-ugly anyways...  |

well, either way, i don't think you can classify the gt-four in with the st1 or the evo.
I know it was once in the rally with those other cars, but the celica is a 2-door sports car while those others are 4door sedans.....I must admit that i like the looks of both the wrx and the evo, but from the specs sheet i got from the dealer the other day, the evo is running at 19psi....and thats just pert damn near crazy on a mitsu motor, in stock form.....so i would imagine that subauru has there kinks out of the wrx, being that the evo is just in its 1st year over here in america with all that extra emissions stuff on it....... but either way you are lookin at 250whp with both sti and evo and the price is pretty much the same, body is pretty much the same, so its just in your peference at which to buy.... i also tried out an evo, and it was hella fun!!! |

the evo's do run a lot of boost.
i would prefer the STI, .5 liters more displacement and a boxter style engine -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Evos are more reliable than the WRX but GT-4s are more reliable than both of them!!
GT-4 its a natural racing car.....

I'd rather have an evo over the sti, the sti seems more problematic from consumer reports.

never driven either (evo or gt-4), but i must say that I HIGHLY doubt thet the GT-4 could even compare to the evo or a wrx from today- I mean come on now, these cars are technological leaders right now, and the celica is 10 years old. Not to mention the fact that the celica gt-4 ST205 couldent compete in the WRC with the likes of the WRX back then (and rememebr that it was using an illegal air intake to boost its power, which was discoverd and lead to the ban of the use of the celica ST205 from WRC events for several odd years).... there really is no comparison. Dont get me wrong, im not saying the GT-4 is garbage or bad in any way, im just saying its outclassed when you compare it to a WRX or EVO.

ya that evo runs insane amount of boost stock but omg bovs on those things are pymp...... the sti runs 14.5 lbs of boost plust .5 more displacement... and it has that koo IC sprayer
but the celica destroys the wrx and evo in looks, but doesn the celica run like a 14.2 stock, and go 0-60 in like 6.5? |

I like the looks of the STI better, but the EVO drove much cleaner. Just everything seemed so much smoother in it, and Mitsubishi dealers normally don't get pissed about adding a turbo timer to your car to keep your turbo happy, but Subaru dealers do. A friend of mine got an STi, all he did was install a Turbo Timer...bam warranty is dead. 2 month old car.

saleeka man!!I use to have a WRX JDM for 6 months,how is possible for this car to be technological leader??????U think WRX its a sport car?Or cuz made it in the WRC mean that its a reliable car.I HAD TOOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THAT CAR!!!!
It was a Version 4 and trust me,its a nightmare.I have the GT-4 now for 6 months and i dont have any problems with it(and its 10 years old)!!!!!

TTE was just padding its chances, and it wasnt the car that was banned, it was Toyota Team Europe that was banned. crafty europeans.... man i tell ya... oh and there also was no WRX back then. they only had regular imprezas. but i agree the evo IV owned the GT-4, 276BHP and a slimming 2976 LBS, 0-60 in 5.5, although its top speed was a depressing 112 MPH --------------------  Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... Subaru has been making Impreza WRX's since the end of October of 1992- just not for U.S. consumption until 2002.

Man, every time i see an EVO VIII i just stare at it cuz they look so mean for being stock, and are fast as hell. I cant wait to be able to afford a serious car like that someday with a stock turbo hopefully...

Ohh yes it was. The first rally that the WRX (or impreza 555, as it was called in rally-speak) competed in was the 1000 Lakes rally of Finland in August of 1993. It came in second. Ohh yeah, and its competition was the Celica GT-4 ST-185... It was rallying a good year before Toyota even debuted the ST-205. It also won the manufacturers championship in 1995 and 1996. Trust me, you wont stump me when it comes to rallying. I don't say it unless I know it. time for me to swallow my own words..... K 2 celica is right, it was TTE that was banned, not the car itself. I am right about the WRX though.
