 Hood latch assembly, Help...need diagram/input |

Hey fellow 6geners. I need some help.
I was wondering if anyone has problems with their hood latch not releasing? There is no resistance when I pull the hood release from inside. I checked underneath, and it seems that the cable is not attached when going into the latch assembly itself. The end of the cable is intact and has not snapped, I just can't figure out the mechanics of it and how it works?  Please help. I really don't want to pull the whole bumper off yet.
