skool is upon us. I cant believe the summer flew by so fast. I'm going to dorm instead of commute this year so the celi had to get stuffed in to the garage. dont worry though, I took care of her. First I spent SEVEN HOURS washing, clay barring, polishing, washing again, drying, and waxing the **** out of the paint one panel at a time. It was brutal. I dont think its possible for a surface to get cleaner than what I unleashed. Next I changed the oil with mobile 1 10-30 synthetic. Some will say that was a waste of money but I'm not going to let some cheap/old oil break down in my car over winter -_-. After that came the bottle of stable followed by a full tank of gas. Finally, I took the battery out and put on the car cover. As soon as my little brother swore to never, ever let any evil befall my car I was content.

are you storing your car indoors or outdoors? the reason i ask is because if you use your car cover outdoors, moisture will get trapped inside and can cause rust.
my buddy's eg civic hatch rusted up fast in one winter. also, it would be a good idea to lift it on jack stands and maybe run it for 10 mins every week to 2 weeks. but isn't it a bit early to store your car? -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

its being stored inside my garage so I hope it wont rust. The gas is mixed with stabil which guarantees to keep fuel fresh for 6 months. I also plan to start the car up every few as well. I know its early to put her away but im the only one in my family who can drive stick and I live on campus now. plus it would be a waste of money to pay insurance on it if im only going to drive it every few weeks 0.o

i know what you feel man since im storing my car indoors at this time of the year for the last couple years, because of University also (which is 1100 km far from home). i never got problem storing the car so far, i usually just unplug the battery and put fuel stabilizer...no jack, no run...car starts like a charm in spring. This year im going to store it a little bit later since im getting my gt4 front painted.

offtopic: i drive my car every winter.. i never had any problems with anything other than very long warm up times and sometimes frozen doors after washing.. still no rust, paint is still good and the motor starts every time.
i had a winter prep thread a long time ago and undercoated the whole underbody.. undercoat FTMFW!! -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

I agree. the only thing to watch out for is if they do a ****ty job. Good undercoat keeps everything out, crap undercoat traps moisture between the coating and your car! I've seen this happen to a friend. from underneath the car looks fine... until you hear a crack when stepping on the passanger floor board. long story short: pay the money and get it done right.
