Wasn't sure where to put this topic but anyway. The previous owner of my Celica completed a 3sgte engine swap. I noticed yesterday that their is a ground going from the alternator to the car. There is also a ground going from the battery to the car. My question is, does the ground going to from alternator to the car have any significance?

Here is a picture of how the ground is going from the alternator to the car.

P.S

And oh, I accidentally knocked out my fuse that is for my radio/lighter.. If I can't find it is there any place that sells those, or would I have to get one from someone on here? kindasad.gif

Many people upgrade wiring under the hood... audio enthusiasts call it upgrading "the big three". the big three consists of the wiring between the alternator + and + battery post, battery ground and chassis, and the one you noticed, alternator case to chassis. It provides the path of least resistance for the critical wiring under the hood.

Hey Cibrit,

I'm changing the subject a bit if you don't mind.

How is that 3SGTE engine working for you, cause I'm thinking of swapping mine too!

And can you post some pic's specially from the motor mounts so I can see how they fit.

Thx allot!!

That's fine.. Well the 3SGTE is a swap I'm sure a lot of people would agree to do.

The only real problem that I have with my car right now is a huge shortage somewhere
that I need to find when I get some time..

Other than that, I haven't had any problems with it yet. The engine pulls real nice, no major problems
and if you do, decide to do the engine swap don't rush it, because the guy that had my car before me did the swap, but
to me it looks like he rushed a bit so now I'm just tying up loose ends.

I'll get some pics up for you once I get out to take some.

FYI,
Do your homework before you start the swap as well.

Ok, thx man!

I'm doing some intancive home work and I found out that since my car has an "A" series motor it's easier to swap it with another "A" type motor. I tought of the 4AGZE (supercharger)

Good luck with the car and I'll let you how it went with the swap.

Dude - take it from me [Read my build thread if you want to see] - leave that cable where it's at. You will have all kinds of stupid stuff happening if you loose that one. I must have forgot it when I did my rebuild this year and man it was a PITA to track down. Wanna see what it does? Start the car, leave it running and turn on and off the lights a few times - you should get little to no variation in the idle speed. Now with the motor running pull that cable off the chassis side and watch your engine sputter and/or die outright [Yes I know this is not the primary function of the cable but it does illustrate the point rather nicely].
All that being said you can do some things to tuck it a little nicer - just be careful to keep it away from the belts ;)
