ok working on pilling the engine 5sfe from my and im have noticed a few melted looking electrical connections the plug for the alternator being one i was wondering are the fuse panels under the hood part of the harness? all the plugs on my 92 celica look the same and that is the car i am taking the motor from should that harness work with my ecu? any help with would be great because i hate to get too deep into this and find out its not going to work or its going to cost more then i can budget

you need a 94+ engine.
in order to use the 5th gen motor, you will prolly have to switch the head to the 6th gen one, and the water jackets may not line up.
you cant use the 5th gen harness either.
from the drivers side of the car looking @ the fusebox, the left corner of it lifts off, and a large plug is under it (EA1 is its name)disconnect that, and the smaller white plug.
that is how you disconnect the harness from the fusebox

ok thanks i was comparing the motors today they are identical down to the sensors what is the difference between the 2?

cams, distributors, intake manifold, valve cover, ect ect.
plus alot of the plugs are diffrent on the sensors.

without a doubt a 98+ motor is what i always say when it comes to replacement motors for our cars.

they are the newest version of the 5s, although you may have to use the intake manifold and distributor on your current motor depending on if your car is a federal or cali car.
any 94+ 5sfe would work, be it from a camry, celica, ect. but the 98+ version comes stock with a metal headgasket, and the block casting is stronger than earlier versions.
