Every 4th of July in TN. You can pretty much blow anything up out there. If I had to guess on a rough estimate my family spent close to 25-2800 on fireworks last year.

hmmm fireworks enthusiast.... I don't quite understand what you mean.

Up here I think we are called pyromaniacs, and if you're lucky enough to know an engineer **** gets blown up constantly.

I have 2 engineer friends, who decided to combine their pyromania and build a massive potato gun they called the potato cannon. It was powered by butane, propane, and then hydrogen/oxygen. The last fuel was fun. Think controlled hindenburg.

But yeah, we're too poor to afford fireworks, but also smart enough to make fireworks. I'm surprised we haven't died yet.

HAHAHA Aerosol.

Okay, so my friend had a can of axe. THAT STUFF IS AMAZING. It sucks as a deodorant however as a source of fire it is beautiful.

After we made it into a flame-thrower for a while, we discovered an even more interesting property which has to do with the deoderant nature of it. Its meant to stay around or on things for a fairly long time. So spanning my friends basement wall we wrote with this can of axe and then set it on fire. Its like flaming graffiti.

I am going to go burn stuff biggrin.gif

haha pretty cool. Here in Hawaii, all aerials are illegal and firecrackers need a permit. So spending 2k is pretty reasonable. but you don't get too much for that amount of money. A $20 cake in the mainland would probably cost at least $100 here.

How'd you get the h2/o2? I was playing around w/ electrolysis and had a great idea of lighting the resultant gasses.... quite a powerful explosion for the amount of fuel

Yeah its electrolysis. My friend used an old power supply from a computer and hooked a series of spoons up to it using 3 of the 12V connections and 3 of the grounds and put his spoon array in a tupperware container. Its kind of sketchy... like meth lab sketchy... but it worked pretty well.

You can probably refine this idea using metal plates or something better than household equiptment, he just did it that way because its cheap, doesn't require a lot of fabrication and because he is dangerous.

EDIT: I kind of remember something else. He used spoons because they were stainless steel.
