Ok,
My power steering belt is squeeling bad. It seems to squeal a lot worse when the car is cold compared to when it has been running for a while. Especialy on startup like when i'm pulling out of a parkin space and have the wheel turned all the way the squeel is horrendus. It gets worse if I happen to be revving a lil to start off. Also going around 90 degree turns where the wheel isn't turned all the way it will squeel slightly. I have put belt dressing on it and it only helps for a day or two. Is it possible that it is just loose? Or is the belt going bad. If so when I replace it I heard it is best to just go ahead and replace all 3 belts while I have it torn down down that far. I think the power steering belt from Autozone is like $20 and for all 3 belts it was like $50. As for the difficutly. Should I attempt doing this myself? I have limited engine work experience but am willing to get my hands dirty and try to figure things out. Do I need any special tools? Also it looks like I may have to remove the engine mount on the passengers side. Is that correct? thanks for suggestions. cormudgen |
