this has happened all of a sudden..

basically unless im driving really slow i cant shift from 1st to 2nd or 3rd to 4th, 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th are grand, cant downshift to 4th or second either.. its driving me mad!

also cant get reverse unless i go into 1st gear first..

any ideas?

when im trying to go to 2nd 4th or reverse it just feels like theres no "gate" im just pulling the shifter back into nothing yano?

im thinking either cable or the shifting assembly in the gearbox?

im taking the car off the road for a bit of work this week anyway just wondering where should i look first..

Pop the shifter trim off and take a peek down at the shifter assembly. Make sure that the two cables are still held into the assembly like shown below.

Also check where they join to the gear lever/shifter and where they join the gearbox.

i had the same exact problem and it was a bad gear selector cable (the one on the right in the picture above) but the dealer wanted $800 for one frown.gif so i visited my local junk yard and pulled one for $6.97 biggrin.gif

but i guess it is possible that its a connection or the other cable... anyway good luck and i hope theres a junk yard close
