I know this might sound stupid, but how long has your car been sitting? When was the last time it was ran up? Couldt be a bad battery? Its a pretty obvious thing to over look.

it doesnt crank slow but theres like no juice going and they said the rpms would jump if it was a fuged up distributor and the diagram said it could be a fuse a relay or a vehicle speed sensor

its located between the tranny and the engine ... who would have guessed? ah i hate it when you shoulda done it your self haha o well i didnt have a torque wrence or much time so o well thanks dad

What?

i know it sounds weird, but the vehicle speed sensor circuit is tied into some other vital systems for some reason, i know it ties into the alternator circuit....but i didn't know it was tied into the distributor as well.

it could be a bad cam position sensor?

I dont think the speed sensor runs into the dizy circuit, although it does tie into the alternator circuit. Although looking at a wiring diagram dosent help, would need actual schematics too see exactly where stuff ties into. But after looking at the wiring diagram it could be alot of things. There are alot of fuses inline with the wiring, I would def go through every related fuse (or all of them just to be sure they all function.) and check them, dont go by what it looks like either. A blown fuse can also look good if you just glance at it, test each one for continunity.

The speed sensor has nothing to do with it. Your car would still start up and run without one. Your speedo wouldn't work and you would get a CEL for the sensor, but the car would start up and run.

bump

it was a bad coil in the distributor... i kept telling them it was the distributor but they were like na the rpm would rise during cranking but they didnt know that the st or the 1.8 or the 7afe differs in that the distributor is electrical and not mechanical... i dono o well ... now my cars stuck on c... for cold...... i will change the thermostat and see whats up in the morning

thanks everyone....
