I was driving on the interstate yesterday and heard the sound of a bolt fall and whack against the car. A couple of miles later when coming to a stop, I heard a thunk and then intense grinding. After inspection, it appears the bolt that secures the caliper to the steering knuckle wiggled itself free. The top of the caliper slid forward and wedged against the rim, grinding and damaging the inside of it. Does anyone know what size this bolt is offhand? Its quite thick.
No work has been done on this part of the car for years, so I'm surprised anything happened. On top of that the tire went flat at the same time....happy friday the 13th indeed ![]() Hope someone can help with offhand knowledge - I just moved and my haynes manual is boxed up somewhere. Meanwhile the car isn't drivable. Thank you for any help |
