Hi everyone,

i intalled HID lights for my low beams and my foglights, for some reason when i turn them on, I can hear some frequency loss in the radio signal. has anyone ever heard of this issue before and what could possibly be causing it?

i would appreciate anyones help.

Maybe some of the wiring is close to the radio wires causing e.m.i.--electro magnetic interference? Or maybe you tapped into a fuse that they share? Just a thought.. Wires scare me!!

Does this frequency loss only happen when using the radio? How are your HIDs wired? It sounds like you might have a ground loop. Electricity will always follow the path of least resistance to ground. If your H.I.D. Ballasts are not grounded well (like to a harness wire ground and not a proper ground to the frame) the path of least resistance to ground might be through a wire shared with your stereo, introducing noise. If you have an external amplifier this allows for many more opportunities for ground loops to be introduced. Always keep grounds as short as you can and grounded to the frame. Scrape away the paint, or there is a certain washer you can use around bolts that scrape paint and create a solid ground.

the balasts go straight into the light connector which also has its ground. the foglight's power comes from the batery into a relay which is also ground and gone to a switch which is also grounded and getting the 12v from the parking lights. thats about how the setup is. but i'll check the groundings.
